This is an opportunity to bring technical depth and problem-solving capability to a global financial institution where engineering quality and sound judgement matter., * Design and develop enhancements to application systems by applying knowledge of software development procedures, analysing existing code, and leveraging scripting tools to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

  • Build and implement programming solutions in collaboration with users, clients, and cross-functional technology teams, ensuring systems meet functional and performance requirements.
  • Develop application components to specification, translating design requirements into clean, maintainable code across both front-end and back-end layers.
  • Identify and remediate application vulnerabilities through structured security analysis, testing, and debugging to maintain a robust and secure codebase.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues by drawing on hands-on experience, evaluating available options, and implementing effective solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Coach and support junior analysts, sharing technical knowledge and contributing to team capability development.
  • Evaluate the risk implications of technical decisions, ensuring all development work aligns with applicable standards, policies, and control requirements., At Citi, you will work alongside skilled engineers on technology that operates at global scale, with the autonomy to make real technical decisions and the support to grow your career over the long term. We offer a collaborative, performance-driven environment where your engineering contributions have a direct and measurable impact.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in a Java application development role, with hands-on server-side Java (Java 8) coding skills and proficiency in concurrent programming.
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, Angular, jQuery, and CSS for front-end development.
  • Experience with Oracle and/or MongoDB databases.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, or Test-Driven Development practices within a software delivery environment.
  • Practical knowledge of modern application architecture, including Microservices frameworks such as Spring Boot, event-driven services, and cloud-native application development.
  • Hands-on experience with Web APIs, Kafka, and Git for version control and integration workflows.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt priorities quickly as project needs evolve.

Beneficial Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with IBM WebSphere application server environments.
  • Background in data modelling or data architecture, providing an additional perspective when designing application data layers.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead or manage technical workstreams, with experience contributing to project planning and delivery oversight., * Bachelor's degree or university qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Benefits & conditions

  • Hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely, giving you flexibility without sacrificing team connection.
  • Access to structured learning and development programmes to keep your technical skills current and support your career progression.
  • Exposure to complex, large-scale engineering challenges across a global technology organisation.
  • Wellbeing support and work-life balance resources designed to help you perform at your best.
  • Competitive financial wellbeing benefits and a compensation package aligned to your experience and contribution.
  • Opportunity to act as a subject matter expert and grow your influence across teams and senior stakeholders.
