Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled Design Engineer to join our team in Moberly, MO. This is a “cradle-to-grave” ownership role where you will guide products from initial concept through design, validation, and final production release.
We are looking for an engineer who applies physics, mathematics, and mechanical intuition to solve complex challenges-not just a CAD operator. You will work in a dynamic, 100% onsite environment where your design decisions directly impact product performance, safety, and customer success.
Core Responsibilities Your work will be defined by a dynamic project mix:
- New Product Development (50%): Designing innovative, reliable operator controls for vehicles and industrial applications.
- Sustaining Engineering (40%): Refining and optimizing existing products to meet evolving market requirements and performance standards.
- Manufacturing Support (10%): Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering to troubleshoot assembly issues and ensure design intent is achieved on the shop floor.
Key Technical Ownership:
- Design Process Leadership: Lead DFMEA and DVP&R initiatives, ensuring all safety-critical functions meet rigorous performance and regulatory standards.
- Advanced Modeling: Execute full-scale mechanical design using Siemens NX, including complex 3D modeling, detailed assembly development, and precise GD&T application.
- Product Lifecycle: Coordinate with Sales and customers to define specifications and manage the development of components and assemblies from concept to production release.
Requirements
- Education: Four-year Technical Degree (or non-technical degree with commensurate engineering experience). Two-year certificate with minimum 5+ years of related design experience will be considered.
- Experience: A proven track record of 5+ years of design experience in mechanisms. Candidates with professional experience in vehicle systems or motion-control products are highly preferred.
Technical Proficiency:
- Expertise in mechanical design principles (physics/math-based).
- Proficiency in CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred; experience in other major parametric systems is transferable).
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack analysis, and Design for Assembly (DFA).
Work Style: This position is 100% onsite in Moberly, MO. We are looking for a self-starter with a positive, solution-based mindset who can navigate a dynamic, “constantly changing” project intake.
