Job description

The Software Engineer shall be part of a team responsible for designing, developing and maintaining a comprehensive distributed Metrics and Monitoring solution for HPC systems to ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of HPC infrastructure. In this position, the Software Engineer must be proficient with Splunk., As a Software Engineer at CTRL+, you’ll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance web applications and services. You’ll collaborate closely with analysts, engineers, and mission stakeholders to deliver scalable, user-centered solutions.

  • Design and implement high-performance, web-based graph visualization interfaces capable of rendering and interacting with large-scale datasets (thousands of nodes and edges) while maintaining responsiveness and usability
  • Build clean, reusable, and scalable frontend code using ReactJS, informed by user research, wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and user stories
  • Develop and maintain scalable server-side applications and microservices using Node.js and Express.js
  • Design, implement, and consume well-structured, secure, and documented RESTful APIs
  • Write and maintain automated JavaScript tests using ESLint and Jest
  • Manage version control, CI/CD pipelines, and project workflows using GitLab
  • Debug existing software, correct defects, and integrate solutions into new or modified systems
  • Develop and implement algorithms that meet or exceed system performance and functional standards
  • Analyze systems flow, data usage, and work processes to investigate and resolve problem areas
  • Write and review software and system documentation; recommend improvements to development process standards
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components and perform quality control on team deliverables
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met
  • Operate effectively within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership and mission stakeholders
  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations and author accurate, concise project updates

Requirements

Experience using the Linux CLI and the Linux suite of tools Experience developing Shell/Perl scripts to automate manual processes Recent software development experience using Python Experience with Splunk SPL, dashboard creation, and report development Experience with Splunk data onboarding, field extractions, data models, and performance tuning Experience with Splunk alerting, incident management workflows, and event correlation Familiar interfacing with Log Management tools including Syslog-ng and rsyslog Familiar Message Brokers such as Kafka Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) principles and automation tools including Ansible Experience with CI/CD principles, methodologies, and tools such as GitLab CI Experience with Git Source Control System

Fourteen (14) years of experience as a SWE, in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.

Position Desired Skills Experience with the Atlassian Tool Suite (JIRA, Confluence), * Proven experience designing and building large-scale graph visualization interfaces for the web

  • Strong UI development skills with ReactJS
  • Solid experience with Node.js and Express.js for server-side development
  • Demonstrated ability to design and consume RESTful APIs
  • Proficiency with GitLab for version control, CI/CD, and project management
  • Working knowledge of Section 508 / WCAG accessibility standards and implementation
  • Familiarity with containers (Docker) and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes (CK8S and Helm)
  • Ability to work independently on a small team, manage timelines, and solve problems proactively with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills
  • 20 YOE REQUIRED

Nice to Have

  • Scrum Lead experience and/or certification
  • Familiarity with the following Node.js and ReactJS packages: Babel, nwsapi, Winston, Graphology, AG Grid, and Sigma
