Lead Software Engineer / DevOps

This client is looking for a Lead Software/DevOps Engineer to join their high-performing trading platform team. Located in downtown Boston, this is a contract-to-hire role requiring 4 days onsite per week. This company is a large global investment management firm that provides asset management services to various client bases. In this role, you will design platforms while driving DevOps best practices across cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and production reliability. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You will also mentor other engineers and support their growth., Tech Breakdown

• 30% Software Engineering (Java & Python)

Daily Responsibilities

• 70% Hands On
• 15% Management Duties
• 15% Team Collaboration

• 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering or DevOps
• Strong experience with Infrastructure as code, Terraform or CloudFormation
• Excellent programming skills in Java and Python
• Experience in building and managing AWS platforms
• Strong experience managing CI/CD systems, using applications such as GitHub or Jenkins.
• Solid knowledge and hands-on experience with AI development tools, including GitHub Copilot and Claude Code
• Hands-on experience with logging and monitoring applications, such as Grafana or Elasticsearch

Desired Skills & Experience

• Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL
• Knowledge of architecture and frameworks such as Spring
• Knowledge of messaging technologies such as Kafka or ActiveMQ
