Job description

As a Senior Site Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of critical applications supporting our Third-Party Administrator (TPA) and Payer Solutions Department. The Senior Site Reliability Engineer sits at the intersection of software engineering, operations, and Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) practices, with a strong emphasis on Application Performance Monitoring (APM), observability, and continuous improvement of production systems. In this role, you will design and implement scalable, resilient solutions; build and maintain observability capabilities; drive incident reduction; and partner closely with engineering, infrastructure, and support teams to improve end-to-end reliability and customer experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Application Performance Monitoring and Observability: Lead the design and implementation of end-to-end observability for applications, including metrics, logs, traces, and synthetic monitoring.
  • Operations and Site Reliability Engineering: Own the reliability, availability, and performance of key applications and services in production environments.
  • Engineering and Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with application development teams to design performant, resilient architectures and patterns.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for APM, SRE, and observability within the team and broader department.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, site reliability engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 1+ years of strong hands-on experience with AppDynamic s in production environments (dashboards, health rules, transaction detection, alerting, baselining, war-room usage).
  • 1+ years of practical experience with SRE practices: SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, incident response, post-incident reviews, and runbooks.
  • 1+ years of experience with observability tooling and standards, including Open Telemetry (tracing, metrics, logging) and integration into APM/monitoring platforms.
  • 1+ years of utilization of AI coding assistants such as GHCP, Windsurf, or Cursor for code analysis and reverse engineering legacy applications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong hands-on experience with AppDynamic s in production environments (dashboards, health rules, transaction detection, alerting, baselining, war-room usage).
  • Practical experience with SRE practices: SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, incident response, post-incident reviews, and runbooks.
  • Experience with observability tooling and standards, including Open Telemetry (tracing, metrics, logging) and integration into APM/monitoring platforms.
  • Utilization of AI coding assistants such as GHCP, Windsurf, or Cursor for code analysis and reverse engineering legacy applications., * Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (High School Diploma/GED + 4 years relevant experience).

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
