Job description
The GBS Operations Center Technician supports the 21st CS at Schriever SFB, Combatant Command (COCOM) Theater Information Managers (TIMs), and GBS Receive Suite users. The technician is responsible for system and network engineering, troubleshooting, and ensuring reliable broadcast services. This role requires hands-on expertise in network communications, problem resolution, and designing solutions to meet current and future data communication needs., * Provide engineering support, troubleshooting, and problem resolution for GBS systems and network infrastructure.
- Monitor, maintain, and ensure availability of network and broadcast services.
- Configure and optimize network solutions to balance performance, reliability, and cost savings.
- Support networked environments, including VPN, TCP/IP routing, DHCP, and DNS.
- Maintain and troubleshoot Windows desktop environments.
- Collaborate with COCOM TIMs, users, and stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain operations.
- Document system/network status and report outages as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of relevant technical experience.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
- DoD 8570 certification (CompTIA Security+) or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Knowledge of VPNs, routing concepts, DHCP, DNS, and core networking.
- Hands-on experience with Windows OS environments.
- Experience supporting multiple operating systems.
- Strong initiative, self-motivation, and ability to perform under pressure., * Experience with GBS Receive Suites, Satellite Broadcast Manager, or deployable satellite systems.
- Familiarity with LAN/WAN operations, multicast traffic, and network architecture.
- Background in military/DISA organizational circuit/network reporting.
- Customer service and help desk support experience.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory and Microsoft SQL Server.
