Job description

DUTIES As a successful candidate for the Network Engineer III role you will provide assistance in all aspects of network management from network design through implementation, maintenance, and upgrading of existing networks; Analyzes design, specifications, and related documents; Implements communication system requirements to support the distributed functionality of a software engineering environment; Analyzes network characteristics (e.g. traffic connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes and throughput), troubleshoots problems and recommends procurement of and/or modifications to network components., * Validate data flows and formats while coordinating with cross-functional teams, system engineers, and end customers to define requirements and minimize downtime

  • Develop algorithms and modules for models supporting research and development of emerging technologies and systems
  • Maintain up-to-date network diagrams and accreditations in strict compliance with ISO 9000 guidelines and DoD/IC regulations
  • Conduct required inventory audits, inspect incoming hardware for physical tampering, and immediately report physical security or COMSEC incidents
  • Lead large-scale engineering initiatives with dynamic requirements, manage assigned tasks, and mentor junior network engineers

Requirements

  • Design, configure, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, high-speed, fault-tolerant WAN/LAN topologies and network devices connecting front-end and back-end components
  • Implement advanced network solutions including load balancing, firewall contexts, VPNs, GRE Tunneling, IPSec, IP Encryption, NAT, Traffic Shaping, VoIP, and Media over IP (MoIP)
  • Optimize end-to-end system performance, maximize throughput, and minimize latency using monitoring tools, network analyzers, WAN test equipment, simulators, and acceleration techniques (e.g., Riverbed), QUALIFICATIONS Twelve (12) years’ experience in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required. A bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited college or university is required. Four (4) years of additional network engineering experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.

Additional Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years as a Network Engineer within the last 3 years
  • Experience with Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls

CERTIFICATIONS & TECHNICAL PROFICIENCIES A CompTIA Security+ certification is required., * Proficiency with Linux and/or Windows system administration experience

  • VMware experience
  • Experience patching and upgrading Linux servers and networking resources
  • Ansible/Salt scripts
  • AWS/VMs
