Job description

SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Software Test Engineer to support the design and testing of geospatial/geographic information systems (GIS) using advanced programming languages.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Supports geospatial-based software design and testing with an emphasis on:
  • Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs)
  • Backend logic and databases
  • Conducts software testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning.
  • Supports the evaluation and validation of software functionality and performance.

Requirements

Clearance Requirement: Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance Travel Requirements: Limited travel; must be willing and able to support division travel to trade shows and customer sites, as needed. Location: Norfolk, VA, * Bachelor of Science degree, conferred or currently in the final year of a program, in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline.

  • Three (3)+ years of Software Test Engineer experience.
  • Strong understanding of advanced programming concepts, including:
  • Object-oriented programming
  • Design patterns
  • Multi-threading
  • Inter-process communication
  • Buffering
  • Persistence
  • Solid understanding of data filtering, present-time filtering, future-time predictions, and interpolation/smoothing methods.
  • Ability to conduct performance tuning and debugging.
  • Experience with C++, C#, and/or Python programming.
  • Knowledge of technologies such as ASP.NET, Blazor, .NET Core, and Mono is beneficial.
  • Proficiency in a high-level programming language, with C++ and/or C# preferred.

The listed salary range represents the typical range for this position. WR bases the offered salary on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual candidate qualifications, such as education, experience, knowledge, and skills, scope and responsibilities of the position, and market and business considerations.
