Job description

Constellation Aviation Solutions (CAS) is a professional technical services contractor responsible for providing planning, engineering, coordinating, and onsite field services activities. CAS ensures FAA operational policies, standards, processes, and procedures are met prior to integrating new systems into assigned National Airspace System (NAS) facilities. We are searching for a motivated, responsible Senior Network Engineer focused on configuration and integration ready to join our team of technical professionals who interact directly with our customers to bring about modernization of government mission critical systems and infrastructure., The Senior Network Engineer will provide hands-on network engineering support to the FAA’s Enterprise Information Display System (E-IDS) program with primary responsibility for the configuration, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and sustainment of E-IDS network equipment. This position will configure network switches and associated network devices, develop and validate network configurations, support system integration and site activation activities, and troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues. This position will also work closely with the program’s systems engineering, software engineering, installation, and second-level support teams to ensure E-IDS network equipment operates in accordance with approved system requirements and configurations., a) Configure, install, and maintain network switches and associated E-IDS network equipment.

b) Develop and implement switch configurations supporting E-IDS system architecture and operational requirements.

c) Configure VLANs, ports, IP addressing, routing, network services, and other required switch parameters.

d) Configure and validate network ports for E-IDS workstations, servers, peripheral equipment, and other system components.

e) Develop standardized network device configuration templates for E-IDS deployments.

f) Maintain configuration baselines and ensure network equipment is configured consistently across E-IDS installations.

g) Perform configuration reviews and validation prior to deployment to ensure equipment is properly configured and ready for installation.

h) Troubleshoot switch, port, VLAN, IP addressing, routing, and connectivity issues during integration, installation, and site activation.

i) Perform network diagnostics and fault isolation using network management and test equipment.

j) Validate network connectivity between E-IDS system components and supporting infrastructure.

k) Support E-IDS integration testing, Green Light Testing, Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and operational checkout.

l) Analyze network logs, switch status, interface statistics, and other diagnostic information to identify and resolve network issues.

m) Configure and validate redundant or failover network configurations where required.

n) Support firmware/software updates and configuration changes for network equipment.

o) Maintain accurate records of switch configurations, IP addresses, VLAN assignments, port assignments, and network topology.

p) Support development and maintenance of E-IDS network drawings, configuration documentation, and installation procedures.

q) Assist the systems engineering team with network architecture development and evaluation of proposed configuration changes.

r) Evaluate proposed network configuration changes for operational impact, compatibility, and risk.

s) Support troubleshooting of issues involving network equipment and interactions between E-IDS hardware and software components.

t) Coordinate with vendors and FAA’s Second-Level Support to resolve complex network equipment issues.

u) Provide remote and onsite technical support during E-IDS deployments and operational troubleshooting.

v) Assist with developing standardized network configuration packages that can be deployed consistently across multiple FAA facilities.

w) Support configuration management activities and ensure all network changes are documented and approved.

x) Provide technical guidance to installation personnel on network equipment configuration and connectivity.

y) Participate in technical reviews and provide recommendations for improving network reliability, maintainability, and deployment efficiency.

Requirements

  • Must possess a bachelor’s degree in network engineering, computer engineering, information technology, or related field.
  • Must have a minimum of 11 years of total professional experience of which 5 years of that experience must be relevant to this position.
  • Demonstrated experience configuring and troubleshooting enterprise network switches.
  • Strong knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, VLANs, subnetting, switching, routing, DHCP, DNS, and network troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco or comparable enterprise-class network equipment.
  • Experience developing and maintaining switch configuration files/templates.
  • Experience in troubleshooting network connectivity using command-line interfaces and network diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to interpret network diagrams, configurations, logs, and interface statistics.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles and secure device configuration.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
  • Must have the ability to discern colors used for safety and telecommunications terminations.
  • Must maintain a valid Driver’s license, reliable transportation, and a good driving record.
  • Proficient in the use of a laptop computer and applications such as with MS Office products, SharePoint portals, and test equipment and diagnostic software.
  • Must possess knowledge of communications wiring standards and installation practices.
  • Must possess knowledge of telecommunications switching and common control systems.
  • Experience and understanding working with engineering drawings and technical procedures.
  • Must have experience in standard hand tools to include power tools, Powder Actuated Tools, ladders, as well as specialty hand tools and test equipment.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials, equipment, and products. Able to lift up to 35 pounds for a one-person lift.
  • Remain standing and/or walking for extended periods.
  • Must be able to occasionally work during odd hours (night shift) while on-site and during specific system outages or during airport closures when systems are available for service maintenance.
  • Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, crawl, and twist while performing assigned duties.
  • Work in confined, restricted, or otherwise tight spaces as required by operational needs.
  • Perform repetitive physical tasks while maintaining quality, productivity, and safety standards.
  • Safely operate in an industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, or field-service environment.
  • Ability to walk up/down multiple floors, stairs, or ladders.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Candidate must pass a drug screening as part of the pre-employment process.
  • Ability to work independently and guide Junior technicians, engineering and field support teams both remotely and onsite., * CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent networking certification.
  • Experience with Cisco IOS/IOS-XE or comparable network operating systems.
  • Experience configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches.
  • Experience with VLANs, STP, LACP, port security, QoS, static routing, and dynamic routing protocols.
  • Experience supporting 1Gb/10Gb Ethernet environments.
  • FAA Deployment Support.
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools.
  • Experience working in a mission-critical, safety-critical, or highly regulated environment.
  • Experience with FAA or Air Traffic Control systems.
  • Experience supporting field deployments and system activation activities.

LOCATION: This position offers a hybrid work environment where the successful candidate may work from home with the ability to work at the customer location in the Atlantic City, NJ area.

SCHEDULE & TRAVEL:

  • Typical schedule is M-F normal business hours, however, schedule flexibility is required, as some customer activities may require shift change or additional hours to accommodate site needs.
  • Domestic travel is up to 75%.
