Job description

A Director, Power Systems Engineering & Integration is required for a senior technical leadership role focused on the integration of complex power systems across North American and international projects. This opportunity is suited to an experienced power systems professional with a background in mission-critical power, generation, data centre infrastructure, microgrids, or complex industrial systems.

The Director, Power Systems Engineering & Integration will act as the system-level technical authority, ensuring multiple equipment packages, controls and customer infrastructure are engineered to operate together as a complete solution. The role provides technical leadership across engineering teams, customers, consultants, EPC contractors and project stakeholders, from early opportunity development through commissioning and final performance validation.

Director, Power Systems Engineering & Integration Benefits:

  • $230,000 - $240,000 gross annual salary
  • 20% target bonus opportunity
  • Senior technical leadership role with responsibility for complex integrated power systems
  • Opportunity to influence system architecture, technical governance and project delivery across multiple stakeholders
  • Regular North American and international travel exposure

The Director, Power Systems Engineering & Integration Role:

  • Lead the development of system architectures for integrated power solutions, including technical interfaces between generation equipment, electrical systems, controls and customer infrastructure
  • Define operating philosophies, control strategies, load management, synchronization, transient response, protection and recovery requirements
  • Coordinate technical requirements across engineering disciplines, project teams, customers, consultants, EPC contractors and suppliers
  • Identify and resolve system-level integration risks, technical gaps and conflicting requirements
  • Support proposals, customer discussions, design reviews, factory testing, commissioning and performance validation activities
  • Review technical commitments, assumptions and system performance requirements before inclusion in proposals, contracts or customer documentation
  • Develop practical standards, processes and templates to support integrated system engineering and technical governance
  • Provide technical recommendations and escalation where system performance, responsibilities or customer commitments are at risk

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred; related engineering disciplines including mechanical, controls or power systems engineering may also be considered
  • Significant experience in power generation, mission-critical power, data centre infrastructure, microgrids, electrical power systems or complex industrial projects
  • Experience integrating multiple major equipment packages into complete operating systems
  • Strong understanding of electrical power systems, controls, protection, synchronization, transient response and system operating philosophies
  • Experience working across OEMs, EPC contractors, consultants, customers and project delivery organisations
  • Experience supporting projects from concept and proposal stages through detailed engineering, commissioning and performance validation
  • Ability to influence senior technical stakeholders and engineering teams across organisations without direct reporting authority
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical matters clearly to customers, project teams and senior leadership
  • Ability to travel regularly throughout North America and internationally

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with reciprocating-engine power generation, rotating electrical equipment, power stabilisation systems or UPS systems
  • Background in mission-critical power, data centre infrastructure, microgrids, distributed energy or high-availability power environments
  • Professional Engineer licensure or relevant power systems, controls, electrical or technical certifications
