Job description

Overland AI has secured funding from prominent defense tech investors including 8VC and Point 72, and built trusted partnerships with DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command. Backed by eight-figure contracts across the Department of Defense, we are strengthening national security by iterating closely with end users engaged in tactical operations., Overland AI is building off-road autonomy, and our software infrastructure is the backbone that enables our teams to move fast, experiment safely, and ship mission-critical systems. As a junior system administrator on our Enterprise Technology team. This is an early-career, growth position designed for individuals who are excited to learn across a wide range of technical disciplines and develop into future technical leaders.

This role sits at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure, enterprise technology, and developer enablement. You will work alongside software engineers, roboticists, and infrastructure engineers to solve problems across the organization-from building AI workstations and writing Slack bots to supporting networking initiatives, developing internal tooling, and helping deploy infrastructure that powers our engineering teams.

The ideal candidate is an early career professional in an engineering discipline or a technical field. They are passionate about technology, enjoy building things, and approach unfamiliar problems with curiosity and persistence. They are equally comfortable assembling a GPU workstation, writing a Python utility, researching a networking problem, or collaborating with engineers to develop innovative solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Build, configure, and support enterprise technology systems, including developer workstations, GPU-enabled AI systems, networking equipment, and internal infrastructure.

  • Develop internal tooling, AI workflows, utilities, Slack bots, and automation that improve productivity and streamline business and engineering workflows.

  • Partner with software engineers, infrastructure engineers, and roboticists to research, evaluate, and implement technical solutions across a variety of projects.

  • Assist with networking, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps initiatives, including CI/CD, monitoring, and technology automation.

  • Support office technology, and hardware deployments across local and remote environments.

  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and infrastructure issues while documenting findings and recommending improvements.

  • Continuously learn new technologies and contribute ideas that improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of our systems and processes.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in Software Engineering, Infrastructure, Enterprise Technology, IT, or a related technical field (including internships, research, or personal projects).

  • Experience programming in Python, JavaScript, C++, or another modern programming language.
  • Pursuing or holding a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent practical experience).

Desired Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience programming in Python, JavaScript, C++, or another modern programming language.

  • Familiarity with Linux, computer hardware, networking concepts, or cloud technologies.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently learn new technologies and solve technical problems.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and research skills with an ability to identify issues and propose practical solutions.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or government contracting. You’re familiar with the compliance landscape and what it’s like to work in a mission-driven environment.

  • Experience using AI tools like Claude.

Benefits & conditions

  • The salary range for this position is $81,000-$100,000
  • Equity compensation, you’ll share in the growth you help build.

  • Best in class health, dental, and vision insurance for you and your dependents.
  • 401(k) with company match.

  • Flexible PTO and company holidays.
  • Parental leave.
