Job description
Sienna Systems is seeking a capable Cloud Systems Administrator to join our Social Security Administration Special Notice Option (SNO) team in Alexandria, Virginia.
SNO is how SSA delivers notices to beneficiaries who need them in an alternate format - Braille, large print, audio, and data files. This is the senior technical seat on the team: the cloud and directory backbone that everything else in the program runs on.
The team is lean, so you will own real systems end to end rather than filing tickets for someone else to action. You will work on-site alongside the government IT staff, with room to shape how the environment gets automated and hardened., Administer and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and the systems hosted in it.
Design, deploy, and manage Active Directory including users, groups, systems, permissions and hierarchy, organizational units, and group policy objects; build and integrate AD Federation Services.
Manage and maintain virtualized environments and support operating system and application virtualization.
Analyze, design, develop, and deploy systems in a technically complex environment.
Provide operations and maintenance for fielded systems including security patching, backup and restore, upgrades, and lifecycle replacement.
Research and recommend automated approaches to system administration; write and maintain scripts.
Perform performance tuning and resource optimization, and produce performance reporting to support capacity planning.
Remediate Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) security findings in coordination with the information assurance team.
Provide Tier III support for complex issues and lead recovery from system failures.
Document the environment, systems, and processes, and transfer knowledge of system configurations to the core government project team.
Requirements
Able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination
At least 2 years of cloud computing administration experience
At least 7 years of systems administration experience
AWS experience including VPC, EC2, AMI, GuardDuty, Bastion, IAM, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, AWS Systems Manager, and AWS Config integration
Extensive Active Directory experience: design, deployment, and management; users, groups, and permissions hierarchy; OUs and GPOs; ADFS
Experience managing VMware ESX/ESXi
Experience working with IIS and SQL Server
Experience administering SharePoint environments
Strong understanding of TCP/IP and other networking principles
Critical-thinking skills to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in a small, complex IT environment with or without direction from the government IT team
Proven effective written and verbal communication, teaming, and customer service skills
Ability to work independently, prioritize workload, and provide guidance to others
Preferred Qualifications:
Scripting experience with Ansible, AWS CLI, or PowerShell
Federal cloud or compliance experience including FedRAMP, NIST 800-53, or FISMA
AWS certification (Solutions Architect or SysOps) or VMware VCP
Experience supporting cloud migrations
Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility standards
