Sr/Lead Java Software Engineer

Experteer Overview You will build and scale high-performance backend services powering real-time market data, trading workflows, and post-trade processing. In this hands-on role, you own architecture through production, partnering with cross-functional teams to solve complex, high-throughput problems. You’ll work on exchange integrations, regulatory workflows, and scalable systems that support trading operations. Compensation / Benefits * Design and own scalable backend systems from architecture to production * Develop high-performance services supporting real-time market data and trading workflows * Build and maintain APIs and distributed, event-driven components * Implement exchange connectivity, regulatory workflows, and post-trade processing features * Translate business requirements into technical solutions * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce risk and improve throughput Tasks * Strong Java and Spring Boot experience * 4+ years backend engineering for Senior; 8+ years for Lead/Principal * Experience with APIs, distributed systems, messaging/event-driven architectures, and SQL * Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions * Trading, fintech, market data, or high-throughput systems experience a plus * Experience with FIX, exchange connectivity, clearing, or risk systems is helpful but not required * Onsite work in Chicago Loop 2-3 days per week * US Citizens or Green Card holders; sponsorship not available Key requirements * medical, dental, and vision coverage * paid leave where required by law
