Job description

The DevSecOps Engineer will facilitate the successful integration of tenant applications into a Kubernetes platform, ensuring a seamless experience for internal and external application developers as they adopt and operate within the Kubernetes ecosystem. This role combines deep technical expertise in containerization and cloud-native infrastructure with strong communication and customer service skills to support platform tenants and drive secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage Kubernetes clusters to support microservices-based architectures across cloud and on-premises environments.

  • Monitor and optimize Kubernetes clusters for performance, scalability, reliability, and efficient resource utilization.

  • Implement and maintain security best practices to protect the integrity and confidentiality of workloads running in the Kubernetes environment.

  • Collaborate closely with application developers and platform tenants to understand their requirements and design Kubernetes solutions that meet functional, performance, and security needs.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and training to platform tenants on Kubernetes best practices, deployment patterns, and operational procedures.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Kubernetes clusters, containerized applications, and associated infrastructure components.

  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tooling to streamline deployment, configuration, and operational workflows.

  • Contribute to CI/CD pipeline design and implementation to enable reliable, repeatable, and secure application delivery.

  • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging trends in Kubernetes, containerization, DevSecOps, and cloud-native technologies, and recommend improvements to the platform.

  • Participate in collaborative engineering efforts with a large team to deliver new, innovative technology solutions to customers., The DevSecOps Engineer will work within a large, collaborative engineering organization of approximately 160 engineers, supporting a major program that delivers new and innovative technology to customers. The role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days onsite and two days remote each week, providing both in-person collaboration and flexibility. The engineer will be among the first members of a growing team at the Tampa location and will receive strong support from the broader engineering group. The environment focuses on all-new development, modern containerization and cloud-native technologies, and a high level of camaraderie and partnership with customers. Work will involve using tools and platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker, AKS, CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, Ansible, Bash, and Python in both cloud and on-premises settings, within a professional, technology-driven setting that emphasizes innovation, growth opportunities, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • Proven experience designing, deploying, and managing Kubernetes clusters in production environments.

  • Strong knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration with Kubernetes.

  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes in both cloud and on-premises environments, including clustering and orchestration concepts.

  • Proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as Bash, Python, or Ansible.

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools, such as GitLab CI, to support automated build, test, and deployment workflows.

  • Ability to understand and translate application and tenant requirements into effective Kubernetes configurations and deployment strategies.

  • Solid understanding of cloud and on-premises deployment models and how they interact with containerized workloads.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work closely with tenants and cross-functional engineering teams.

  • Must have a minimum of a DoD Secret Clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Kubernetes certifications such as Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).

  • Experience with Kubernetes ecosystem tools such as Helm, Istio, Argo CD, Flux CD, Prometheus, or Rancher.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (IaC) tools, including Terraform and Ansible, for automated provisioning and configuration.

  • Experience working with major cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

  • Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and hybrid or multi-cloud Kubernetes deployments.

  • Experience in DevSecOps practices, including integrating security into CI/CD pipelines and containerized environments.

  • Experience with automation frameworks and tooling to support large-scale engineering initiatives.

  • Ability to work effectively within a large, collaborative engineering organization and contribute to innovative, bleeding-edge technology solutions., Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
