Rapid Prototyping Process Signal Processing Subsystems Systems Integration Hardware Testing

Job description

Rogue Signal Processing is seeking a motivated Systems/Hardware Engineer to support the design, integration, assembly, testing, and deployment of mission-critical hardware systems. This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys working with their hands, building and integrating complex systems, troubleshooting hardware, and supporting rapid prototyping efforts.

This is not a project management role. We are looking for engineers who enjoy solving technical problems, building reliable systems, and working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, integrate, and test hardware systems and subsystems.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system drawings to support hardware integration and troubleshooting.
  • Support system integration, verification, and functional testing activities.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and validation of hardware in laboratory and operational environments.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, cabling, and system-level issues during development and testing.
  • Support engineering documentation including assembly procedures, test procedures, and configuration records.
  • Collaborate with software, electrical, mechanical, and systems engineers to integrate complete mission systems.
  • Assist with inventory, configuration management, and hardware tracking.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions while providing feedback from hands-on integration efforts.
  • Support customer demonstrations, field testing, and occasional travel for system installations as required.
  • Continuously improve assembly processes and identify opportunities to increase efficiency and reliability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Approximately 2 years of professional engineering experience, including internships, co-ops, or laboratory experience involving hardware integration or system assembly.
  • Experience assembling, integrating, or testing electronic or mechanical hardware systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable working with hand tools, laboratory equipment, and hardware integration tasks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn in a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision is essential. Engineers are expected to take ownership of assigned tasks, drive work to completion, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Strong initiative is required.
  • Team members are expected to communicate progress, risks, blockers, and technical concerns without waiting to be asked.
  • Must be comfortable engaging directly with software developers, system engineers, and technical leads to gather requirements, clarify expectations, and coordinate development activities.
  • Engineers are expected to provide realistic schedule estimates, communicate status accurately, and raise concerns early when deadlines or technical objectives are at risk.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Secret or TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or Intelligence Community programs.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems or embedded hardware.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, or power supplies.
  • Exposure to networking, RF systems, signal processing hardware, or ruggedized computing platforms.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, or other engineering collaboration tools., The ideal candidate enjoys building things. They are curious, hands-on, and comfortable taking apart and assembling complex systems. Rather than managing projects, they thrive in the lab, solving technical problems, supporting system integration, and delivering reliable hardware that works in demanding operational environments. This position supports a fast-paced, mission-focused development environment with multiple concurrent priorities and demanding schedules. The successful candidate must be comfortable operating in a high-demand environment where priorities can shift quickly based on customer, program, or operational needs. Success in this role requires adaptability, accountability, attention to detail, and the ability to learn new technologies and software frameworks quickly. The ideal candidate thrives in challenging technical environments, enjoys solving complex integration problems, and takes pride in delivering high-quality software with minimal oversight.
