Job description
This position will support the modernization and migration of legacy web applications to a modern Angular-based architecture. This role will be responsible for developing, refactoring, testing, and integrating application functionality while working within established architecture, security, and development standards., The ideal candidate has strong front-end development experience with Angular, can work across multiple application layers, and is comfortable working within an Agile development environment. The developer will collaborate closely with other developers, testers, technical leads, and Government stakeholders to deliver secure, maintainable, and high-quality solutions., * Develop and migrate legacy application functionality to Angular using established architecture, design standards, and development patterns.
- Develop responsive user interfaces using Angular, RxJS, PrimeNG, HTML, and CSS.
- Analyze existing application functionality and legacy code to ensure business requirements are maintained during migration.
- Develop, modify, troubleshoot, and test application code.
- Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback to improve code quality.
- Develop and maintain unit tests to validate functionality and identify defects early in the development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot and resolve defects identified during development, integration, and testing.
- Collaborate with backend developers to integrate Angular components with Java/Spring services and REST APIs.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum activities, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Review user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure requirements are clearly understood before development begins.
- Document technical solutions, development decisions, and application changes to support long-term sustainment.
- Collaborate with team members to identify opportunities to improve development processes, code quality, and efficiency.
- Support knowledge sharing and provide guidance to less-experienced developers when needed.
- Work independently while effectively collaborating within a small, geographically dispersed development team.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years of web-based application development experience using technologies such as:
- Angular
- JPA
- RxJS
- PrimeNG
- HTML
- CSS
- Demonstrated understanding of multi-tier application design and development, with experience in at least two of the following:
- Presentation layer/user interface
- Business objects/application logic
- Persistence/database connectivity and access
- Ability to interpret and comply with established application architecture, frameworks, and coding standards.
- Experience creating object-oriented applications using MVC and established design patterns.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a small team.
- Active DoD Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
Experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
- Java, Java Servlets, and J2EE-compliant technologies
- Spring and Legacy Struts frameworks
- RESTful services and API integration
- Object Relational Mapping (ORM) technologies, including EclipseLink and Hibernate
- Maven or similar Java build tools
- Test-driven development and automated unit testing using JUnit, Mockito, TestNG, or similar tools
- Git or SVN repository management
- Java EE server environments, including WebLogic or JBoss
- Oracle database systems and SQL/PLSQL
- DevOps or DevSecOps practices
- Agile/Scrum development methodologies
- User story development and sprint backlog management
- Technical or professional certifications from recognized organizations such as Oracle, CompTIA, Red Hat, PMI, or similar organizations
- Knowledge of USMC systems, processes, and culture
Desired Skills and Attributes
- Ability to quickly learn and understand complex legacy applications and translate existing functionality into modern Angular solutions.
- Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on producing functional, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements, priorities, and technical challenges throughout a migration effort.
- Willingness to research and adopt new technologies and development practices.
- Ability to mentor and support less-experienced team members.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable working independently in a full-time telework environment as part of a small team of approximately 6-10 members.
