Job description

The Healthcare IT Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of the organization’s information technology systems and infrastructure. This role supports a hybrid environment including Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Azure Virtual Desktop, endpoint and network infrastructure, clinical and business applications, and end-user technology.

The position provides technical support to physicians, nurses, and clinical and administrative staff while assisting with the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of technology solutions across the organization.

Responsibilities

Systems & Hybrid Identity Administration

  • Administer and support Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, and associated hybrid identity services.
  • Manage user accounts, security groups, permissions, licensing, and access throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, role changes, and offboarding.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot Entra ID synchronization, authentication, MFA enrollment, and account access issues.
  • Configure and maintain Windows servers and core services, including Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and file services.
  • Apply least-privilege principles to account and permission changes, and support periodic access reviews.

Azure Virtual Desktop & Cloud Infrastructure

  • Administer the organization’s Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment, including host pools, session hosts, application delivery, and user access.
  • Use Nerdio for provisioning, configuration, scaling, and ongoing management of virtual desktop resources.
  • Configure and troubleshoot FSLogix user profiles, profile storage, and related file services.
  • Build, maintain, and deploy standardized VM images, applications, and configuration updates within the virtual desktop environment.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot virtual desktop performance, user sessions, application issues, connectivity, and supporting Azure infrastructure.

Endpoint & Device Management

  • Administer organizational endpoints using Microsoft Intune and other centralized device-management tools.
  • Deploy applications, policies, configuration profiles, scripts, and updates to managed devices.
  • Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot computers, thin clients, printers, scanners, and other peripherals used throughout the organization.
  • Manage device enrollment, compliance, inventory, and lifecycle activities for technology assets.
  • Use PowerShell and other administrative tools for configuration, deployment, and automation.

Network & Telecommunications Infrastructure

  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network infrastructure including switches, firewalls, wireless networks, and VLANs.
  • Administer Aruba network infrastructure and WatchGuard firewall services, including connectivity, port configuration, VLAN assignments, and approved access requirements.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity, performance, routing, and communication issues across organizational systems and locations.
  • Support and maintain telephone and telecommunications systems, coordinating troubleshooting or repairs as needed.
  • Assist with installation, configuration, and replacement of network and infrastructure equipment.

Clinical Applications, Nurse Call & Vendor Support

  • Provide technical support and administration for the organization’s Electronic Health Record and clinical systems, including TruBridge and PointClickCare, along with the Nurse Call System and other clinical, administrative, and business applications.
  • Troubleshoot application, connectivity, access, and integration issues, coordinating resolution with internal departments and vendors.
  • Serve as a technical point of contact for technology vendors and service providers.
  • Coordinate system maintenance, upgrades, configuration changes, and technical escalations with vendors.
  • Support implementation, integration, testing, and ongoing maintenance of third-party systems.

Help Desk & End-User Support

  • Provide technical support to physicians, nurses, and clinical and administrative staff across all organizational locations.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, account, application, printing, scanning, virtual desktop, and network issues.
  • Respond to, document, prioritize, and resolve support requests through the IT ticketing system, escalating when appropriate.
  • Provide user training and technical guidance on effective use of organizational systems and applications.
  • Support deployment, setup, relocation, and replacement of end-user technology.

Security & Compliance

  • Handle protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA, the HITECH Act, and organizational security policies.
  • Maintain security configurations on endpoints, servers, and network devices in line with organizational standards.
  • Report suspected security incidents, unauthorized access, or policy violations to the Director of Information Technology & Information Security.
  • Support security awareness efforts and assist with remediation of identified vulnerabilities.

IT Operations, Projects & On-Call Support

  • Maintain technical documentation, system configurations, procedures, and inventory records.
  • Administer and monitor backup and recovery processes and assist with recovery testing.
  • Participate in planning, testing, implementation, and support of new technology solutions, system upgrades, and IT projects.
  • Monitor system availability and performance and assist with resolving issues affecting organizational technology services.
  • Participate in the departmental on-call rotation and respond to technology incidents, outages, and urgent support needs.

Requirements

  • Degrees in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred. Relevant professional experience and technical certifications may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related information technology experience supporting enterprise systems, networks, applications, or end users. Healthcare IT experience preferred.
  • Experience administering Windows-based environments, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and Microsoft 365.
  • Experience with virtual desktop or cloud infrastructure technologies; Azure Virtual Desktop, Microsoft Azure, Nerdio, and FSLogix experience preferred.
  • Experience with enterprise endpoint and infrastructure technologies, including Microsoft Intune, Windows endpoints, switches, and firewalls.
  • Working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, wireless networking, and network troubleshooting.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across hardware, software, application, network, and user-related issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently, document technical information, manage competing priorities, and support both technical and nontechnical users.
  • Experience supporting EHR platforms, clinical applications, nurse call systems, or other healthcare technologies preferred. TruBridge or PointClickCare experience is a plus.
  • Industry certifications from Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, or other recognized organizations preferred but not required., * High school or equivalent (Preferred)
