Job description

  • Install, route, and label copper and fiber optic cabling within data center environments.
  • Rack, stack, and mount servers, switches, routers, and other network equipment.
  • Install cable management systems and maintain organized rack layouts.
  • Terminate, test, certify, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling.
  • Perform equipment installations, decommissions, upgrades, and hardware replacements.
  • Install and connect PDUs, patch panels, and network infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, cabling, and connectivity issues.
  • Document installations, cable routes, asset information, and inventory.
  • Follow data center standards, security policies, and change management procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas while adhering to all safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and customer teams to complete projects on schedule.

Requirements

TechPlus Solutions is seeking an experienced Data Center Technician with 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting data center operations, structured cabling, and IT infrastructure. We’re looking for a dependable professional who takes pride in quality work, follows industry best practices, and thrives in a fast-paced environment., * 2+ years of experience working in a data center or enterprise IT environment.

  • Experience with structured cabling, including Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic installations.
  • Experience racking and stacking servers, switches, routers, and storage equipment.
  • Ability to terminate, test, and troubleshoot copper and fiber cabling.
  • Familiarity with patch panels, cable management, and rack layouts.
  • Basic networking knowledge, including IP addressing and network connectivity.
  • Experience using cable testers and fiber testing equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to read rack elevations, network diagrams, and installation documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on ladders or in confined spaces as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in enterprise or hyperscale data centers.
  • Knowledge of BICSI standards and structured cabling best practices.
  • Experience with fiber optic splicing or testing is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Server+, or BICSI Installer are a plus.
