Job description
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert for F5 BIG-IP LTM and GTM/DNS.
- Manage and support enterprise F5 configurations including virtual servers, pools, nodes, monitors, profiles, persistence, SSL/TLS, and high availability.
- Support F5 GTM/DNS for global traffic management, DNS-based availability, failover, and traffic distribution.
- Troubleshoot complex F5 production issues related to load balancing, DNS, SSL/TLS, connectivity, performance, and availability.
- Perform root cause analysis and act as an L3 escalation point.
- Support F5 migrations, hardware replacements, configuration migrations, upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.
- Implement F5 security updates, configuration hardening, and platform improvements.
- Support both physical and virtual F5 environments.
- Review existing F5 implementations and recommend resiliency, performance, security, and capacity improvements.
- Use Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices to automate F5 configuration and deployment.
- Support Palo Alto firewall policies and advanced firewall troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot Cisco routing, switching, and network connectivity issues.
- Support F5 and network services in hybrid and AWS cloud environments.
- Create implementation plans, change documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and technical standards.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers.
- Support after-hours maintenance windows when required.
Requirements
- 5+ years of F5 BIG-IP experience.
- Deep, recent hands-on F5 LTM experience in large enterprise production environments.
- Deep, recent hands-on F5 GTM/DNS experience.
- Strong understanding of load balancing, application traffic management, DNS, high availability, failover, and traffic distribution.
- Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting virtual servers, pools, nodes, health monitors, profiles, persistence, SSL/TLS.
- Experience supporting physical and virtual F5 BIG-IP deployments.
- Experience with F5 migrations, hardware/platform replacements, configuration migrations, upgrades, and patching.
- Strong F5 production troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with F5 performance, capacity, resiliency, security hardening, and infrastructure optimization.
- Strong experience with Palo Alto Firewalls.
- Intermediate Cisco routing and switching knowledge.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, SSL/TLS, firewalls, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience serving as a senior/L3 escalation point.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Technical leadership and mentoring experience.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Nice-to-Have Skills: Terraform experience, especially for F5/network automation; Infrastructure as Code; AWS networking experience; AWS CloudFront; hybrid data center and AWS environments; Ansible / Ansible Automation Platform; F5 ASM/WAF; additional Palo Alto firewall experience; Azure or Google Cloud Platform networking; ServiceNow; Jira; relevant certifications in F5, Palo Alto, Cisco, AWS, or Terraform., Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related technical field. The real hiring focus is deep F5 LTM + GTM/DNS experience. Palo Alto, Cisco, Terraform, and AWS are valuable, but the strongest candidates will be the ones with recent, hands-on enterprise F5 engineering and troubleshooting depth.
