Job description

Position Summary: MAISA is seeking a strategic and highly technical Cloud DevOps Manager to lead our cloud infrastructure initiatives, specifically focusing on a massive, statewide enterprise implementation within the public K-12 education sector. In this role, you will bridge the gap between deep technical execution and high-level project leadership. You will manage a team of talented engineers, oversee the architecture of our AWS-native environments, and leverage Cloudwick Amorphic to drive advanced data and analytics capabilities. The ideal candidate understands the unique compliance, scalability, and stakeholder challenges of the K-12 public education landscape and has a proven track record of delivering enterprise-grade solutions across an entire state. (Please see the MiGreatDataLake Feasibility Study for more information.), * Cloud Architecture & Engineering: Architect, deploy, and manage secure, scalable, and highly available infrastructure using AWS native features (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation/Terraform).

  • Data Lake Management: Lead the implementation and optimization of data lake and analytics solutions utilizing Cloudwick Amorphic to support statewide educational data initiatives.
  • Enterprise Project Management: Drive the end-to-end lifecycle of a statewide K-12 enterprise implementation. Manage project scopes, timelines, budgets, and cross-functional deliverables to ensure on-time and successful rollouts.
  • Team Leadership: Direct, mentor, and grow a team of DevOps engineers and cloud architects. Conduct performance reviews, manage resource allocation, and foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
  • Sector Strategy: Apply deep knowledge of the public K-12 education sector to ensure infrastructure meets strict compliance, security (e.g., FERPA, COPPA), and accessibility standards required by state and local education agencies.
  • DevOps & Automation: Champion CI/CD best practices, infrastructure-as-code (IaC), and automated security guardrails to streamline deployments and reduce operational overhead.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary technical liaison between technical teams, state education department officials, school district IT directors, and executive leadership.

Requirements

  • Cloud Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining robust environments using AWS native services .
  • Platform Specifics: Demonstrated, practical experience managing and deploying Cloudwick Amorphic for enterprise data operations.
  • Implementation Scale: Proven track record of successfully leading complex, statewide enterprise technology implementations from inception to completion.
  • Industry Experience: Direct experience working within or extensively supporting the public K-12 education system , with a strong understanding of its unique data, privacy, and operational requirements.
  • Leadership: 3+ years of direct employee management experience, including hiring, mentoring, and guiding technical teams.
  • Project Management: Strong project management skill set, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable, measurable project plans., * Certifications: Active, high-level AWS certifications heavily preferred (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional ).
  • Education: Advanced degree preferred (Master’s or higher) in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Methodologies: PMP, CSM (Scrum Master), or ITIL certifications are a strong plus.

Benefits & conditions

  • An annual salary of $90,000 - $110,000, 401k contribution, and medical benefits are included
