Job description

The Network Engineer 2 is responsible for the design, implementation, validation, and support of wired and wireless network infrastructures supporting Nihon Kohden patient monitoring solutions. This position develops network system designs, implementation documentation, and wireless coverage plans utilizing Juniper Mist, Ekahau, Visio, CAD floor plans, installation guides, and other engineering tools. The Network Engineer II partners with Project Management, Sales, Design Engineering, Field Technicians, and customer IT personnel to deliver network infrastructure projects from design through implementation, documentation, and ongoing customer support while ensuring adherence to approved standards, best practices, and project timelines.

Essential Functions and Main Duties

  • Design wired and wireless network infrastructures for Nihon Kohden patient monitoring systems, including network topology diagrams, switch configurations, wireless heat maps, implementation documentation, and installation requirements.
  • Review assigned projects with Project Management and customer stakeholders to understand project scope, communicate installation requirements, develop implementation plans, and ensure project readiness.
  • Perform network infrastructure assessments and wireless site surveys, including Ekahau predictive and validation surveys, practical WLAN transmitter testing, and evaluation of existing customer network environments for new installations and upgrade projects.
  • Configure, validate, and stage network equipment prior to shipment, order required installation materials, and ensure all hardware is prepared in accordance with approved engineering standards.
  • Coordinate and perform onsite network installations, upgrades, and cutovers, validate network connectivity and system performance, provide go-live support, and create post-installation documentation and network installation reports.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Sales, Design Engineering, Field Technicians, and customer IT personnel to resolve technical issues, communicate project status, and ensure successful project execution while maintaining professional customer relationships.
  • Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting for deployed customer network infrastructures and assist cross-functional teams in resolving customer network and connectivity issues.
  • Mentor junior Network Engineers, maintain accurate engineering documentation, adhere to company policies and standards, and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education / Certification / Experience Required

  • BachelorÂ’s degree in engineering or related discipline
  • Associate level Cisco/Juniper network certification in area of focus
  • 5+ years of experience in network/wireless planning, design and configuration
  • Extensive knowledge of deploying network and wireless equipment
  • Level and compensation depend on location, experience, education and skills

Benefits & conditions

Schedule: The regular hours for this full-time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, unless otherwise stated by the department manager. Holiday, weekend, and evening work hours may be required. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the organization or department and are subject to change at any time at the Company’s discretion. The primary working environment will be a home office with up to 80% of time in customer/hospital site facilities.
