IT Storage Engineer

Experteer Overview In this IT Storage Engineer role, you will design and run high-performance storage infrastructure that supports mission-critical workloads such as simulation and telemetry. You’ll work closely with compute, networking, and application teams to align storage with system architecture and workload needs. The position emphasizes on-premise, multi-tier storage across high-throughput and scalable environments. This is a hands-on role with opportunities to shape storage standards and automation in a cutting-edge space program. Compensation / Benefits * Design, implement, and maintain multi-tier storage infrastructure (high-performance, capacity, archive, backup/recovery, DR) * Architect and operate high-throughput, low-latency storage for exabyte-scale file systems (e.g., VAST) supporting simulation and telemetry * Administer NetApp, Pure FlashArray/FlashBlade, Vast, and HPE Alletra storage systems * Monitor and troubleshoot storage performance across hardware, transport (RDMA), and protocol layers * Troubleshoot complex issues involving multiple protocols and OS interactions * Manage storage access, data permissions, and access controls across protocols and OSes * Develop automation and tooling for monitoring, capacity planning, configuration management, and alerting * Define and enforce storage deployment and performance standards * Collaborate with compute, networking, and application teams to align storage strategy with workloads * Participate in maintenance, on-call, and occasional hardware installation Tasks * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other STEM discipline OR 5+ years of storage engineering experience in lieu of a degree * Experience with enterprise storage platforms: NetApp, Pure Storage, Vast, HPE Alletra * Strong understanding of storage protocols: NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, and NVMe over TCP Key requirements * medical, vision, and dental coverage * 401(k) retirement plan * stock or long-term incentives * Employee Stock Purchase Plan * paid parental leave * paid vacation and holidays
