Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior IT Security Engineer in Draper, UT. Overview: We are seeking an experienced Senior IT Security Engineer to help protect and strengthen enterprise technology environments through the design, deployment, and ongoing management of cybersecurity solutions. This position plays a key role in securing infrastructure, cloud platforms, applications, and identity systems while supporting both day-to-day security operations and long-term security initiatives. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with a hands-on approach to engineering and operations. This individual will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, networking, and application teams to implement effective security controls, reduce organizational risk, and improve the overall security posture. Success in this role requires strong problem-solving skills, experience with modern security technologies, and a passion for continuous improvement and automation. Key Responsibilities: Security Engineering & Technical Solutions:
- Architect, deploy, and manage security technologies that support endpoint, network, cloud, and identity protection
- Assess current security controls and recommend improvements to enhance overall cyber resilience
- Contribute to the development of cybersecurity standards, technology strategies, and future-state architectures
- Collaborate with technology teams to embed security requirements into infrastructure and application projects
- Support implementation of enterprise-wide security initiatives and modernization efforts
Incident Detection & Response:
- Assist with monitoring, analysis, and response activities related to cybersecurity events and threats
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, infrastructure security, or security operations
Demonstrated experience administering enterprise security platforms, including:
- Endpoint Detection & Response (EDR)
- Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
- Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- Vulnerability Management solutions
- Cloud Security technologies
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft security solutions, including Microsoft Defender, Entra ID, Intune, and Azure security services
- Experience supporting incident investigations, threat response activities, and security remediation efforts
- Strong understanding of industry security frameworks and practices, including NIST Cybersecurity Framework, CIS Controls, and Zero Trust principles
- Experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar tools to automate security tasks is highly desirable
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking abilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams
Preferred Qualifications: Professional security certifications such as:
- CISSP
- GSEC
- Security+
- Microsoft Azure Security Engineer (AZ-500)
- Comparable cybersecurity certifications
- Experience operating within large enterprise or highly regulated environments
- Knowledge of cloud-native security controls, identity governance, and infrastructure automation

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
