Mobile Phlebotomy Manager

Lemedix is seeking an experienced Mobile Phlebotomy Manager to lead and support our mobile phlebotomy operations across Northern California. This is a hands-on, field-based leadership position responsible for overseeing phlebotomy staff, facility coverage, scheduling, quality patient service, specimen collection, employee performance, and compliance.

The Mobile Phlebotomy Manager will maintain a visible presence at Lemedix client facilities and laboratory locations, providing operational support, employee coaching, facility communication, and direct phlebotomy coverage when needed.

This position is ideal for an experienced phlebotomist or lead who is ready to take the next step into a management role while remaining actively involved in field operations and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily mobile phlebotomy operations across assigned Northern California facilities.
• Manage phlebotomist schedules and ensure appropriate staffing and facility coverage.
• Travel between assigned client facilities, laboratory locations, and field sites as operational needs require.
• Provide direct phlebotomy coverage when staffing needs or operational circumstances require.
• Serve as a primary point of communication between phlebotomists, facility staff, laboratory teams, Operations, and Lemedix management.
• Respond promptly and professionally to facility questions, concerns, complaints, and urgent operational issues.
• Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, timekeeping, and timesheets, including proper use of Timeero and other Lemedix systems.
• Support implementation and ongoing use of Lemedix’s phlebotomy application and ensure employees are properly trained.
• Maintain accurate schedules, employee assignments, facility information, and staffing records.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, orientation, and training of new Mobile Phlebotomists.
• Conduct field training, coaching, and follow-up with team members.
• Establish clear performance expectations and assist management with performance reviews and corrective action documentation.
• Hold regular team meetings and communicate operational updates, expectations, and training needs.
• Monitor phlebotomy supplies and coordinate supply requests to prevent shortages.
• Ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, handling, transportation, and laboratory drop-off procedures.
• Work closely with laboratory and field teams to reduce specimen errors, rejected specimens, and problem requisitions.
• Maintain organized phlebotomy supply and specimen drop-off areas.
• Ensure facility information remains current when locations are added, changed, or terminated.
• Assist with follow-up related to needlestick and post-exposure incidents, including required documentation, source testing, notifications, and safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with Lemedix policies, HIPAA, OSHA, bloodborne pathogen standards, and applicable laboratory and workplace safety requirements.
• Escalate employee, patient, facility, safety, and operational concerns to management promptly.
• Complete special projects and other duties assigned by management., The role involves regular driving and travel and may require working in varying weather, traffic, and driving conditions.

Work Environment

The Mobile Phlebotomy Manager will work across Lemedix client facilities, on-site patient care locations, laboratory locations, and office/administrative environments throughout Northern California.

Because the position involves direct patient care and specimen handling, employees may be exposed to potential biological and occupational hazards. All duties must be performed in accordance with Lemedix safety procedures, HIPAA requirements, OSHA standards, bloodborne pathogen requirements, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

• Current and valid California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification.
• Strong hands-on phlebotomy experience, including venipuncture and skin puncture techniques.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, lead phlebotomist, or team management experience strongly preferred.
• Mobile or field-based phlebotomy experience strongly preferred.
• Experience working with geriatric and medically complex patient populations preferred.
• Strong knowledge of specimen collection, handling, transportation, and laboratory operations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to coach employees, address operational concerns, and maintain a professional and positive work environment.
• Strong organizational, scheduling, prioritization, and time-management skills.
• Comfortable using computers, mobile applications, spreadsheets, email, scheduling platforms, and timekeeping systems.
• Ability to maintain accurate and confidential employee and patient information.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Ability and willingness to travel between Lemedix client facilities and laboratory locations throughout the assigned Northern California territory.

Physical & Field Requirements

This is an active, field-based position. The employee must be able to regularly stand, walk, drive between facilities, perform phlebotomy procedures, and communicate effectively with patients and staff.
