Project Leader - System Development (WMS / Logistics IT) - Bilingual English/Japanese

As a Project Leader, you will coordinate, plan, and direct technology and information systems for general customers and group subsidiaries. You will lead staff, determine necessary technology advancements, train employees in the use of software and hardware, and oversee technical maintenance, security, and support. The ideal candidate understands the technical requirements related to the business and WMS applications, and can effectively collaborate with an energetic, customer-solutions-driven team., Coordinate IT projects and manage the full project lifecycle from start to finish. Provide support and training to subordinate and management staff. Manage delivery and achievement against customer expectations. Oversee an Application Support team. Develop and maintain short- and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. Provide strategic advice and recommendations on the development, implementation, and evaluation of new or modified IT policies, practices, and procedures. Ensure applications are effectively deployed, supported, and utilized. Ensure advanced support and quality of service for end-user applications. Support management and sales with application demonstrations and presentations to external customers. Assist in requirement gathering and specification preparation for customer solutions. Assist and direct the implementation of new technologies such as WMS/ERP. Maintain complete understanding of the company’s proprietary business software.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent. 5+ years of application design and development experience. 3+ years of hands-on WMS implementation and operations experience. 2+ years of Project Manager experience. Experience leading projects as Project Leader or Technical Lead. Strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Experience with Git-based development. Experience mentoring and directing team members. Experience with IT service processes (SLA, incident, problem, change management). Bug fixing, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis experience. Direct communication experience with warehouse and operations teams. Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills. Self-starter, flexible, and able to work with everyone from entry-level employees to upper management.

Language Requirements

Fluent English (verbal and written) is required. Business-level Japanese (verbal and written) is required. Ability to communicate with customer executives and end-users in both English and Japanese is a strong plus.

Technical Skills

Databases: MySQL, MS-SQL Server, Oracle, DBFlute (preferred). Development Tools: Eclipse, Git, Visual Studio, SVN. Programming Languages: Java, VB.NET / C#. Preferred: Angular JS, Bootstrap. Data transformation experience with flat files, CSV, Excel, XML, JSON, ODBC. Workflow automation experience. Strong document creation skills using Excel and PowerPoint for technical documentation.
