Job description
We are seeking a skilled Mid-Level Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience administering, maintaining, securing, and optimizing database environments across development, testing, and production.
The DBA will be responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, security, backup and recovery, while working closely with developers and IT teams to troubleshoot issues and improve database operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support database environments across development, testing, and production.
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch database systems.
- Monitor database performance and identify and resolve performance bottlenecks.
- Perform database tuning and query optimization.
- Manage database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Implement and maintain database security, access controls, and user management.
- Support replication, clustering, and high-availability solutions.
- Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Collaborate with developers and system administrators to optimize queries and database architecture.
- Create and maintain database documentation, procedures, diagrams, and operational guidelines.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar database-focused role.
- Strong experience with one or more database platforms such as SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or PostgreSQL.
- Solid knowledge of database performance tuning and query optimization.
- Experience with database backup and recovery strategies.
- Understanding of replication, clustering, and high-availability concepts.
- Knowledge of database security, permissions, and user management.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Fluent English and Portuguese.
- Must reside in the Central Time Zone.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud database platforms such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL Database.
- Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and business intelligence tools.
- Experience working in highly available or production database environments.
