Job description
As a Network & WiFi Installation Technician, you’ll work as part of our installation team to build and deploy wired and wireless networks.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Installing and running Cat6 network cabling
- Terminating Cat5e/Cat6 cabling and RJ45 connectors
- Testing and troubleshooting network cabling
- Installing and mounting wireless access points
- Installing routers, switches, and firewalls
- Installing and organizing network equipment
- Assisting with network rack installation and organization
- Connecting and testing network equipment
- Troubleshooting cabling and connectivity issues
- Working with other Nexus WiFi technicians to complete customer installations
- Communicating professionally with customers and onsite personnel
- Maintaining tools, equipment, and installation materials
Travel
Travel is an important part of this position.
Nexus WiFi performs network installations for customers throughout the United States.
The typical schedule averages approximately:
1 week traveling/on installation projects for every 2 weeks working locally.
Candidates must be comfortable with overnight and out-of-town travel as part of their regular work schedule., Nexus WiFi primarily deploys Ubiquiti / UniFi network equipment, along with technologies from manufacturers including:
- Ubiquiti / UniFi
- Cisco
- Meraki
- Ruckus
You’ll gain hands-on experience working with:
- Cat5e and Cat6 structured cabling
- Routers
- Managed switches
- Wireless access points
- Firewalls
- LAN/WAN networks
- WiFi networks
- Network racks and related infrastructure
Opportunity to Cross-Train in Technical Support
One of the unique opportunities with this position is the ability to cross-train as a Network Support Technician.
Employees interested in expanding their IT knowledge can be trained to work both installation and technical support.
If you choose this career path, you may rotate between installation and technical support responsibilities on a weekly basis.
As part of the technical support team, you’ll help support approximately 700 Nexus WiFi clients across the United States and troubleshoot real-world network issues involving:
- LAN/WAN connectivity
- WiFi connectivity and performance
- Routers and switches
- Wireless access points
- Firewalls
- PCs and printers
- POS systems
- Security camera systems
We provide training to help you expand your networking and troubleshooting knowledge.
This provides an excellent opportunity to develop both hands-on network installation skills and remote network troubleshooting experience.

Requirements
We’re looking for someone who is dependable, technically minded, and comfortable working in both installation and IT environments.
Candidates should have:
- Experience working with Cat5e and/or Cat6 network cabling
- Experience terminating RJ45 connectors
- Basic understanding of computer networking
- Familiarity with routers, switches, and wireless access points
- Ability to use basic hand tools and network installation tools
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of an installation team
- Good communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Dependable attendance and professional attitude
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable personal transportation, * Cable, Internet & Satellite Field Service Technicians: 1 year (Preferred)
- Cabling: 1 year (Required)
