Job description

In support of this mission, MITRE Labs operates several Innovation Centers which focus on various technologies. The Emerging Technologies Innovation Center (ETIC) focuses on emerging technologies that have the opportunity to provide transformational solutions to MITRE sponsors in the mid-to-long term. The Quantum, Optics, and Imaging (QOI) Department is a department in ETIC that provides innovative solutions to address new opportunities and challenges associated with these and other novel emerging technologies. We have a strong foundation of technical expertise across the broad spectrum of these technologies that our sponsors can draw upon to develop new capabilities as well as assess their vulnerabilities and respond to emerging risks. To meet increased demand, we are looking to hire a quantum technologies specialist that can support both traditional and non-traditional sponsors as well as shaping and implementing our internal strategy.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to projects in one or more of the following areas: quantum computing, quantum sensors, and/or quantum communications.
  • Communicate results to government sponsors via presentations and reports.
  • Help shape MITRE Quantum Information Science and Technology Strategy
  • Coordinate to expand quantum technologies work program

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or a 6 years of related experience with a Master’s degree or 3 years of related experience with a PhD with relevant experience who can immediately contribute to the quantum work program; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
  • Expertise in quantum information sciences and technologies.
  • Demonstrated high-level research contributions
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Ability to work on interdisciplinary topics and communicate well across scientific groups
  • Must be U.S. citizen in order to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.
  • This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site., * Master’s in Physics, Quantum, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience in one or more areas of quantum information such as quantum computing, quantum networking, and/or quantum sensing.
  • Experience in working with government
