Job description

As an entry-level Software Engineer, you will work with a collaborative team of Scientists, Engineers, and Software Developers to support Leidos products that contribute to security and detection efforts around the world. , The Software Engineer will have the opportunity to build software development skills while working with Linux systems, real-time data processing, object-oriented programming, and modern software development practices. You will work under general supervision with support from experienced team members and managers who are committed to your professional growth.

Requirements

n, * Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.\n

  • Knowledge of C and C++.\n
  • Understanding of basic software development practices, including branching, merging, testing, and code reviews.\n
  • Basic understanding of algorithms, data structures, data analysis, modeling, or simulation.\n
  • Familiarity with Bash or other scripting languages.\n
  • Familiarity with Git or another version control system.\n
  • Familiarity with Docker and CI/CD concepts.\n
  • Familiarity with Linux operating systems, preferably Red Hat or CentOS.\n
  • Experience with Java and MATLAB is a plus but not required.\n
  • U.S. citizenship required.\n, * Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.\n
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.\n
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a diverse, multidisciplinary team.\n
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and software development practices.\n
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and work through technical challenges.\n

  • Develop, modify, test, and troubleshoot software applications and systems.\n
  • Write and maintain C/C++ and Java code using modern software development practices.\n
  • Help identify bugs, performance issues, and system bottlenecks and assist in developing solutions.\n
  • Participate in all stages of the software development life cycle, including design, development, testing, debugging, and maintenance.\n
  • Use Git and other version control tools to manage and maintain code.\n
  • Work with Linux-based systems, including Enterprise Linux environments such as Red Hat and CentOS.\n
  • Use Docker and CI/CD tools to build, test, and maintain software.\n
  • Analyze technical issues and work with the team to identify and implement solutions.\n
  • Contribute to software used for system design, development, testing, and infrastructure.\n
  • Work with experienced developers and engineers to learn best practices and improve software quality.\n
  • Participate in a structured software development process and contribute to a collaborative team environment.\n
