Job description
The Principal Azure Cloud Engineer will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to design, implement, and manage secure Azure cloud infrastructures in support of mission-critical operations, with a strong focus on security monitoring and threat detection. This role supports complex cloud environments by leveraging modern DevOps tools and practices, collaborating across teams to solve technical challenges., * Supporting Azure cloud services and infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or ARM templates
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues related to Azure cloud environments while implementing Azure security best practices
- Leveraging Azure data services such as Azure Monitor, Azure Logging Analytics, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, and Azure Policy to ensure security posture and compliance
- Writing and maintaining automation scripts in PowerShell, Python, or Azure CLI and executing them using services such as Logic Apps, Azure Automation, and Azure Functions
- Configuring network security groups (NSGs), application gateways, and other network controls to protect cloud resources
- Managing Azure compute, storage, networking, and database services
- Applying security best practices and compliance standards while collaborating effectively across teams to address complex technical needs
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or 4+ additional years of IT experience in lieu of a degree
- 7+ years of experience in cloud computing with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure
- Experience designing and deploying Azure-based solutions, and working with DevOps tools such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or Git
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like ARM templates, Terraform, Ansible, or BICEP
- Familiarity with cloud template technologies including Azure Resource Manager, GitHub Enterprise, GitLab, and/or architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or Zachman
- Experience automating workflows using Scripting tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, YAML, JSON, or Ansible
- DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (eg, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, CND, SSCP) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire, * Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and experience with other cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud Platform
- Familiarity with the Atlassian tool suite, specifically JIRA and Confluence
- Understanding of Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS)-199, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-53A, NIST SP 800-37, and DoD Cloud Security Requirements Guide
- Microsoft certifications such as Azure Administrator Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate, Solutions Expert in Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Clearance Requirements:
- An active TS/SCI with Polygraph.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
