Job description

  • Developing infrastructure, data models, features, and the overall system to build APIs, and maintain the codebase to resolve customer issues.

  • Writing well-designed, testable code, ensuring systems are efficient, optimized, scalable, and reliable.

  • Developing software testing and validation procedures and documentation.

  • Ensuring Common Room’s core internal capabilities, infrastructure, and ML systems serve the needs of customers and our team.

  • Analyzing, problem-solve, and design systems and simple, elegant solutions while considering observability, SLA, and scalability.

Requirements

Your ability to quickly learn about the product, business, and technology are your superpowers. You own and execute features independently, build APIs for engineers to solve customer problems, and ensure our systems are efficient, scalable, and reliable. You help keep Common Room’s core infrastructure ahead of the product’s needs, while contributing to key company-building initiatives., + 6+ years of experience in software engineering.

  • Hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent experience.

  • Be comfortable working with AWS, Postgres, and Node.js.

  • Able to use TypeGraphQL for our API endpoints, Apollo/Express as our web server, and Postgres(hosted on RDS) + ClickHouse as our database. We use React for front-end, and AWS for our infrastructure needs.

  • Able to take pride in the craft and is excited to own large projects, primarily in the backend domain.

  • Communicate effectively with experienced engineers, including application and front-end engineers.

  • Demonstrate a good judgement on tradeoffs and tooling, avoiding over-indexing on trendy technology - preferring supported, stable solutions.

  • Use customer problems as input into system design, finding joy in creating simple, elegant solutions.
