Job description

The Programmer III creates, analyzes, and modifies custom programming systems for our A/V Unified Communications team, including encoding, debugging, and system documentation. In this role, you will design and program commercial control systems, create custom user interfaces, and provide customer-facing technical support for business development, sales, and active project deployments.

Reporting within the Unified Communications division, you will apply advanced technical expertise to deliver sustainable, cutting-edge control solutions while working alongside installation teams, sales engineers, and clients.

Key Responsibilities

Control System Programming & Module Development: Design, program, and update commercial control systems (AMX/Crestron); research and build reusable device and system modules for standard and custom deployments.

UI/UX Design & Client Consultation: Act as a technical consultant to customers to design, build, and implement intuitive, custom user interfaces.

Onsite & Remote Technical Support: Load and troubleshoot programs on-site, update software/firmware, and deliver phone and online technical support.

System Integration & Testing: Generate and execute test/acceptance plans both in-house and on-site; provide technical guidance to installation personnel during deployment.

Sales & Engineering Support: Support sales presentations, customer meetings, and proposal tasks; ensure technical drawings align with CAD standards and UNICOM Government guidelines.

Quality & Industry Alignment: Maintain working knowledge of emerging A/V and telecommunications trends to continuously enhance products and methodologies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or a related field) with 1–2 years of experience, OR 8–10 years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a degree.

5+ years of hands-on experience programming with AMX and/or Crestron control languages.

Software & Technical Proficiency:

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.

Experience developing and deploying custom A/V control system architecture.

Certifications (Highly Desired):

AVIXA CTS, CTS-I, or CTS-D certification.

Industry/Manufacturer certifications (Crestron, AMX, Extron, C#, ClearOne, Biamp, Polycom).

Clearance & Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active SECRET Clearance or the ability to pass a U.S. Government background investigation to obtain and maintain one.

Core Competencies: Strong cross-functional collaboration, punctuality, attention to detail, and top-tier problem-solving abilities under tight project deadlines.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

Travel: Occasional travel to client sites required.

Physical Requirements: Occasionally required to sit, stand, walk, reach, stoop, knee, and lift/move up to 25 lbs. standard office/site equipment.

Environment: Professional team environment with quiet-to-moderate noise levels and standard workplace traffic.
