Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Technical Project Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of complex data center infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in data center design, build-out, and operational systems (SAN/Storage, Server and Network), with a proven track record managing large-scale projects from conception through commissioning/hand off. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge, and excellent stakeholder management skills to ensure successful project delivery aligned with industry standards and best practices. This position will require occasional weekend work in which will be adjusted by schedule shifting., Project Leadership

  • Lead planning, execution, and successful delivery of data center deployment projects, potentially including greenfield developments and large-scale retrofits.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, and success criteria collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocations.

Technical Oversight

  • Interpret and utilize Visio drawings and blueprints to guide infrastructure layout and design decisions.
  • Oversee installation, configuration, and testing of network equipment such as switches, routers, and structured cabling systems.
  • Manage rack & stack operations, optimizing layouts for airflow, accessibility, and scalability.
  • Coordinate lab build-outs and ensure seamless integration with live production environments.

Infrastructure & Facilities Management

  • Collaborate with facilities teams to ensure proper power provisioning and PDU balancing where needed.
  • Working with the IT Facility manager ensure projects meet thermal management requirements for high-density environments.
  • Ensure environmental controls and access/security systems are maintained during project deployment

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams, external vendors, and contractors.
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to executive leadership and stakeholders effectively.
  • Manage vendor relationships and ensure compliance with SLAs and project timelines.

Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure all work adheres to industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA), safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Conduct post-project reviews, capture lessons learned and implement continuous improvement strategies.

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing greenfield data center builds, rack and stack projects or large-scale retrofits.
  • Deep technical knowledge of data center design, including power distribution, cooling and physical security.
  • Proficiency with Visio or similar design tools for infrastructure planning.
  • Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) and DCIM platforms.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA), fiber and copper media types.
  • Exposure to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid data center models.
  • Knowledge of capacity planning, scalability, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including facilities, IT, security, and external vendors.
  • Where required, strong vendor negotiation, contract management, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies such as Agile or hybrid approaches.
  • Excellent documentation skills for drawings, runbooks, SOPs, and project reports.

Preferred Skills:

  • Certifications in PMP, CAPM, or related project management credentials.
  • Technical certifications related to data center infrastructure or networking.
