Job description

We are seeking a Test Driver Coordinator to support vehicle durability and automotive testing operations in Chattanooga, TN. This position is responsible for coordinating daily Test Driver assignments, supporting vehicle testing activities, maintaining accurate test documentation and data, and mentoring and training Test Drivers. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in automotive testing, vehicle durability, or professional test driving and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where safety, accuracy, and adherence to customer requirements are critical. The Test Driver Coordinator will serve as a key point of coordination between Test Drivers, Team Leaders, Durability Engineers, and other testing personnel to ensure vehicles, drivers, equipment, and documentation are ready for scheduled testing., Test Driver Coordination

  • Coordinate daily Test Driver assignments based on driver qualifications, vehicle availability, and testing requirements.
  • Develop and maintain daily driver schedules to support durability testing activities.
  • Ensure Test Drivers are properly assigned and qualified for specific vehicles and test programs.
  • Maintain accurate Test Driver tracking reports and group records.
  • Monitor daily testing activities and adjust assignments as priorities or testing requirements change.

Training & Mentoring

  • Train and mentor Test Drivers on vehicle durability procedures, testing requirements, safety practices, and reporting expectations.
  • Coach Test Drivers and Team Leaders to ensure customer and program requirements are consistently followed.
  • Provide feedback and guidance to improve driver performance, documentation, and adherence to testing procedures.
  • Assist with onboarding and development of new Test Drivers.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and quality.

Vehicle Readouts & Data Management

  • Perform vehicle readouts using applicable diagnostic and vehicle information systems, including ODIS, Diagra, and IDEX.
  • Follow established Vehicle Readout System (VRS) procedures.
  • Upload vehicle readout information to the appropriate vehicle data system or provide information to the assigned Durability Engineer.
  • Exchange data logger cards/SSDs prior to scheduled driving shifts.
  • Install, verify, and maintain data logger configurations.
  • Transfer completed data logger cards/SSDs to the appropriate data management personnel.
  • Ensure test data and vehicle information are accurately captured and communicated.

Vehicle & Durability Testing Support

  • Operate test vehicles as required to support durability and specialized vehicle testing.
  • Support scheduled vehicle durability testing and ensure vehicles are prepared and available for testing.
  • Perform vehicle checks and required support activities before and after testing.
  • Perform AdBlue and oil additions as needed, including after normal workshop operating hours.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and communication of vehicle or testing issues.
  • Coordinate with Durability Engineers and other support teams when testing issues arise.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Review Test Driver comments and End-of-Shift (EOS) reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Distribute EOS information to appropriate Durability Engineers and testing personnel.
  • Maintain accurate records of driver assignments, testing activities, vehicle status, and test data.
  • Ensure required documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Communicate changes, problems, and testing delays to the appropriate personnel.

Requirements

  • 13 years of relevant experience in automotive testing, vehicle durability testing, or a related environment.
  • Previous vehicle test-driving experience required.
  • Experience coordinating or working directly with Test Drivers is highly preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including:
  • Microsoft Word
  • Microsoft Excel
  • Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Ability to work effectively in a vehicle testing, durability, or automotive development environment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to safely operate test vehicles.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document testing information.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working hands-on with test vehicles while also coordinating drivers, managing schedules, maintaining accurate documentation, and communicating testing information to engineering and management teams.
