Job description
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Systems Engineer I to join our innovative technology team. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting and maintaining desktop level hardware and applications for the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) network as well as provide customer satisfaction for end users.

Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as the initial point of contact for inbound support requests across all intake channels (including, but not limited to, self-service portal, phone, email, walk-up, and monitoring alerts), performing initial triage, classification, and priority assignment.
- Resolve incidents and requests within scope; escalate to senior engineering staff when an issue exceeds current capability, documenting the reason for escalation prior to re-assignment.
- Performs installation, replacement, configuration, and maintenance of computer hardware and software and telecommunication devices within the Oklahoma County network.
- Troubleshoots problems with computer hardware, software, network, and telecommunication systems.
- Maintain user accounts and access across the county’s identity and access management systems (password changes, lockouts, provisioning, multi-factor authentication, etc.), verifying required authorization is on file before fulfilling access-related requests.
- Maintain accurate records linking supported systems and assets to the county’s asset management system flag unrecorded assets for inclusion.
- Log all work performed in the county’s IT service management system regardless of source, complexity, or duration.
- Review assigned ticket queue at start of shift and at least once more during the shift; maintain ownership of assigned tickets and provide timely updates through resolution, escalation, or reassignment.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Requires 24/7 on-call on a rotation basis.
- Requires working on-site at our Oklahoma City location.
Requirements
- Experience with hardware, network, and application troubleshooting utilizing the OSI model.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely convey information both verbally and in writing, including plain-language explanations for non-technical end users.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to accurately document technical issues and actions taken within a structured service management system, and to distinguish between service disruptions and routine requests for prioritization purposes.
- Strong understanding of identity and access management concepts and administration.
- Possess strong computer skills and maintains the technical proficiency necessary to perform job duties.
- Use critical thinking and sound judgment to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Knowledgeable in Windows and MacOS operating systems, including OS installation and troubleshooting procedures as well as basic network troubleshooting.
- An entry-level IT certification (e.g., CompTIA A+) is desirable but not required.
- Experience with a ticketing or IT service management platform is a plus.
