Job description
- Support the IT team by responding to users’ requests in the form of email, phone calls, and physical meetups depending on the issue.
- Grow your IT expertise by learning and working with all kinds of hardware and software
- Learn and develop your professional communication and customer support skills
- Configures and manages Linux/RHEL and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing enhancements to improve reliability and performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve application technical issues
- Assist with user account management and security administration
- Support system backups and recovery procedures
- Help maintain system documentation and operational procedures
- Respond to user support requests related to system functionality
- Take ownership of the above tasks, while also continuously looking for other tasks or projects to own or support as new ones emerge.
- Other duties as assigned, Where driving may be required or where a rental car must be obtained for business travel purposes, applicants must have a valid driver license for this position and will be subject to verification. In addition, the applicant must pass an in-house, online, driving course to be authorized to drive for company purposes.

Requirements
- Bachelors degree required
- Four or more (4+) years profession experience in IT or Systems Administration
- DoD 8140 IAT Level II cert (e.g., Security+ CE or equivalent)
- Proficiency with Active Directory, GPO creation/troubleshooting, OS deployment tooling, and PowerShell automation
- Strong understanding of system monitoring, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and operational best practices.
- Understanding of basic networking, including subnets, routing, and VLANs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Clear, analytical thinking; driving towards problem resolution
- Fundamental understanding of operating system concepts, system interconnectivity, virtualization, hardware and software management, active directory and group policy, file systems, client/server interoperability, performance analysis, system vulnerability assessment, remediation and prevention.
- Professional and effective communication skills (both verbal and written) between customers, team members, and line management.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision from senior leadership.
These Qualifications Would Be Nice to Have:
- Familiar with Navy or DOD environments.
- 1-2 years of Linux administration
- Basic knowledge of scripting (PowerShell, Python)
- Linux + ce Certification
- NMCI administration experience
- NMCI/NAUTILUS Purebred Agent
- SharePoint Administration experience
- SQL Database Administration experience, * Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location., Applicants may be subject to a pre-employment drug & alcohol screening and/or random drug screen, and must follow UIC’s Non-DOT Drug & Alcohol Testing Program requirements. If the position requires, an applicant must pass a pre-employment criminal background history check. All post-secondary education listed on the applicant’s resume/application may be subject to verification.
Benefits & conditions
Target salary is $85,000/annually to $95,000/annually commensurate with experience
