Job description

As an Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE), you design and implement security across the systems development lifecycle, integrating processdriven compliance such as RMF into agile engineering practices to deliver iterative, sprintaligned security solutions. You serve as the lead technical resource for transforming security policies into code and operationalizing an automated GRC framework. You participate in solution analysis and architectural reviews, then translate complex designs and automated control implementations into clear, actionable concepts for stakeholders such as ISSMs and ISSOs.

You architect and deploy a layered automation framework for hybrid and cloud environments: secure InfrastructureasCode templates that embed controls at creation, configuration management to detect and remediate drift, PolicyasCode for continuous compliance validation, and an orchestration layer for eventdriven, selfhealing responses. You build and manage a ComplianceasCode repository, integrate AWSnative security services such as Audit Manager, Security Hub, Config, CloudTrail, or CloudWatch, for automated evidence collection and audit readiness, and support realtime compliance scoring dashboards and RESTful APIs that publish standardized metrics enterprisewide.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience with systems engineering and cybersecurity
  • 7+ years of experience with security automation, cloud engineering, and architecture
  • 5+ years of experience as a lead technical authority designing and implementing enterprise security solutions beyond assessment
  • 5+ years of experience translating RMF, NIST, and DoD STIG requirements and architectural diagrams into functional, automated, and operational code
  • Secret clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology, Computer Science, or Engineering field
  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer - Professional, AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional, AWS Certified Security - Specialty, or (ISC) CISSP certification

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with PolicyasCode such as OPA or Rego, and authoring AWS Config Rules to codify NIST SP 80053 or DoD STIG controls for continuous validation
  • Experience building secure IaC templates and pipelines such as AWS CloudFormation, or Terraform, with automated drift detection and remediation via AWS Systems Manager
  • Experience implementing eventdriven orchestration such as AWS Step Functions, Amazon EventBridge, to trigger selfhealing responses for compliance violations
  • Experience developing a versioncontrolled ComplianceasCode repository integrated into CI/CD or GitOps workflows, such as GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, for continuous evidence generation
  • Experience building realtime compliance dashboards such as Power BI, and RESTful APIs that expose standardized security metrics to enterprise systems
  • Experience integrating AWS Audit Manager, Security Hub, CloudTrail, and CloudWatch for automated evidence collection, centralized findings, and audit readiness
