Job description

Our firm is seeking a Front-End Identity Integration Developer on behalf of a client in the national retail industry. The client delivers large-scale digital and in-store experiences and maintains a broad portfolio of consumer-facing and enterprise applications. In this role, you will integrate a third-party identity platform with custom-built web applications. You will help create secure, intuitive, and consistent authentication, authorization, and account-management experiences across the client’s application portfolio. The ideal candidate combines modern front-end development expertise with practical knowledge of identity and access management. You will work closely with Identity and Access Engineering, Cyber Defense, Compliance, Cyber Architecture, product, user experience, and external vendor teams., In this role, you will serve as a key contributor to the client’s identity integration strategy, transforming complex security and authentication requirements into seamless front-end experiences. You will balance user experience, accessibility, performance, and security while establishing reusable integration patterns that can scale across multiple applications. Success in this position requires strong technical judgment, effective cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to troubleshoot issues across interconnected application, browser, API, and identity-platform environments., * Integrate a third-party identity platform into custom-built web applications using vendor SDKs, APIs, hosted components, and authentication services.

  • Develop reusable front-end components, libraries, hooks, and integration patterns for adoption across multiple applications.
  • Implement authentication and authorization workflows using standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML, JSON Web Tokens, and Proof Key for Code Exchange.
  • Integrate identity workflows with application routing, state management, backend APIs, and session-management patterns.
  • Ensure authentication experiences meet established standards for usability, responsive design, accessibility, performance, branding, and internationalization.
  • Collaborate with Cyber Architecture and engineering teams to implement secure token handling, session controls, error management, and protections against common web application vulnerabilities.
  • Partner with the identity platform vendor to understand product capabilities, integration requirements, release changes, defects, and recommended implementation practices.
  • Work with product owners and user experience designers to translate business requirements and design specifications into production-ready functionality.
  • Create automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests for identity-related workflows.
  • Troubleshoot authentication failures across browsers, applications, networks, APIs, and vendor platforms.
  • Implement logging, telemetry, and monitoring to measure authentication success rates, failures, latency, and user abandonment.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and production-readiness reviews.
  • Produce technical documentation, implementation guidance, and onboarding materials for other application teams.
  • Support phased deployments, feature-flag strategies, production validation, incident resolution, and post-launch optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the scalability, maintainability, security, and consistency of identity integrations across the application portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Three to five years of professional front-end software development experience.
  • Demonstrated experience building production web applications using:
  • React
  • TypeScript
  • Experience integrating front-end applications with:
  • RESTful APIs
  • Software development kits
  • Backend services
  • Working knowledge of authentication and authorization concepts, including:
  • OAuth 2.0
  • OpenID Connect
  • Access tokens
  • ID tokens

  • Experience implementing secure authentication workflows in single-page or server-rendered web applications.
  • Strong understanding of browser security concepts, including:

  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and tools such as:

  • Experience diagnosing technical issues using browser development tools, application logs, API traces, and monitoring platforms.

  • Experience with identity federation, social identity providers, step-up authentication, adaptive authentication, or risk-based authentication.
  • Familiarity with:

  • Module federation
  • Experience working with cloud platforms and cloud-native application architectures.
  • Familiarity with observability tools such as:
  • Splunk

  • Experience implementing applications within regulated, high-volume, retail, consumer, or enterprise environments.
