Job description

We are seeking a Software Engineer to build and maintain the build and deployment pipeline for our full platform, including cloud APIs, message brokers, databases, and hardware controllers, on both cloud clusters and on-premise stacks. You will own the path from commit to running cluster: the CI pipelines that build and test, the container registry the artifacts land in, and the pipelines that deploy them, as well as the secrets infrastructure they authenticate against. Our installer runs in environments we don’t administer, including air-gapped sites., + Own GitLab CI across the platform: shared job templates, build and test stages, artifact publishing, and the release pipeline. Other engineers on the team add jobs for their own services. You set the conventions those jobs follow and keep the pipeline fast and trustworthy.

  • Make builds reproducible. Pinned base images, deterministic dependency resolution, and artifact paths that agree between Makefile, Dockerfile, and pipeline definition.
  • Own our container registry, including image promotion between environments, retention policy, and vulnerability scan gating in CI.
  • Maintain and extend a Helmfile-based installer that deploys a multi-service stack (Vault, MongoDB, RabbitMQ, Traefik, cert-manager, MongoDB, etc) .
  • Build automated testing for infrastructure code: chart rendering and linting in CI, ephemeral cluster deploys against a real chart set, and upgrade tests that catch breakage.
  • Build Python tooling for configuration generation, template rendering, and post-install sanity checks. Make it idempotent and make its failures diagnosable.
  • Operate Vault: policy scoping, init and unseal flows.
  • Support internal customers for deployment and pipeline issues. Diagnose failed builds, broken local cluster setups, and chart changes that don’t behave as expected.
  • Support customer deployments in the field during business hours. Work with our support and solutions engineers on installer failures, upgrade issues, and environment-specific problems on clusters we don’t administer. There is no after-hours on-call rotation for this role.
  • Support upgrade paths. Charts must be safe to re-apply against a cluster carrying real customer data, including CRD lifecycle and StatefulSet volume behavior.
  • Participate in code review as a reviewer. We expect findings to be demonstrated rather than asserted.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional infrastructure, platform, or backend engineering experience.
  • Hands-on CI/CD ownership with GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar. You have written and maintained pipelines, not only triggered them, and you have debugged a build that passes locally and fails on a runner. +

span class=”NormalTextRun SCXW204251881 BCX0”>proficiency in Python and/or Go.

  • Solid Kubernetes fundamentals. You can read a rendered manifest and explain what a given chart value changes and what it will do on upgrade rather than install.
  • Hands-on Helm experience authoring or substantially modifying charts, not only consuming them.
  • Comfort in shell and Make.
  • Docker fluency, including layer caching, multi-stage builds, and why an image that works on your laptop fails in a scan gate.
  • Experience with a secrets manager (Vault preferred) beyond reading values out of it.
  • Linux fluency, including container networking. Preferred Qualifications

  • Container registry operations with Harbor, Artifactory, ECR, or similar, including auth flows, robot accounts, and image lifecycle policy.
  • Air-gapped, on-premise, or otherwise restricted-network deployment experience, including moving artifacts across an air gap.
  • Supply chain tooling: SBOM generation, image signing, provenance attestation.
  • Message broker operations (RabbitMQ): queue topology, dead-lettering, and upgrade paths.
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent demonstrated depth. No prior quantum computing background required.
