Job description

Leidos is hiring an energetic, motivated, innovative individual to be a part of our team supporting Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) in Baltimore, MD. The Cloud Engineer works closely with the Program team to manage, maintain, modernize and optimize application’s performance, durability, and cost to best support CMS and the general public. You will deliver solutions that ultimately ensure that the functions of Medicare, Medicaid, and Marketplace are carried out for the US citizen and contribute to efforts to reduce healthcare costs.\n \n With a “no downtime, zero outages” vision and mantra, we support a range of hybrid and multi cloud based application needs, ranging from managed services to self-service, all of which are based on our customer’s required level of support. \n \n As a Senior Cloud Engineer you will be required to advise on and develop solutions in multiple cloud environments, including MS-Azure, GCP, AWS, and OCI, that are highly innovative and achieved through research and integration of industry best practices. You will influence development of solutions that impact strategic project/program goals and business results while also leading work of other technical staff. You will resolve highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning and interpretation. You will interact daily with various technical resources across different vendors which are fulfilling technical requirements for the customer. \n \n Your goal will be to work with all stakeholders to help Leidos ensure delivery of high-quality, robust, and scalable solutions with minimal business impact. Lastly and most importantly, you will represent our program when meeting with the Application Development Organizations (ADO) and identify opportunities to provide support as well as modernization and innovation opportunities for their application.\n \n The current work environment is remote leveraging various tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.\n \n \nPrimary Responsibilities\n \n \n

  • Build and maintain products and native cloud services focused on application development lifecycle automation across multiple cloud environments including AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI. Apply best practices and best of breed services within and across multiple CSPs to provide parity and cohesive integration within the customer’s hybrid cloud enterprise.\n
  • Work with the cloud, security, testing, and application teams to build orchestration pipelines\n
  • Build, support, and maintain CI/CD pipelines that conduct multiple deployments a day\n
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by establishing and participating in feedback loops\n
  • Meet with applications on a regular cadence to provide support and identify opportunities for optimization\n
  • Serve as a main point of contact for all technical needs and become the subject matter expert of the applications the team manages.\n
  • Become a subject matter expert with CMS Hybrid Cloud and CMS Enterprise Shared Service offerings\n
  • Develop strong relationships and partnerships with the other CMS Hybrid Cloud Product Teams\n
  • Continuously refresh infrastructure components such as EC2 instances, Cloud Formation Stacks, Kubernetes clusters, containers, etc.\n
  • Promote strong quality control practices for all managed services as well as maintain robust documentation\n
  • Work independently to resolve highly complex problems using significant application of technical knowledge, conceptualizing, reasoning, and interpretation\n

Requirements

  • MUST HAVE - Multiple cloud environments experience of AWS, Azure, GCP with OCI experience a value plus. \n, * Works independently under “minimal supervision”\n
  • Knowledge of cloud-based security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience protecting all layers of the application stack.\n
  • Knowledge of the Software Delivery Life Cycle (SDLC).\n

\n \n

  • Experience in cloud technologies, cloud services, IaC, cloud storage, cloud networking and cloud security.\n
  • Package Management tools: rpm, pip, dnf, yum\n
  • Experience with container build and orchestration: Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, AKS, Docker\n
  • Operatizing System Setup and Best practices: RHEL, AL2, AL23, Windows\n
  • Build Tools: Jenkins, GitHub\n
  • Experience with CI/CD Tools: Sonarqube, Snyk, JFrog\n
  • Dependency Management tools: Maven.\n
  • Configuration Management tools: Ansible, Terraform, Git.\n
  • Experience with Cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS offerings.\n
  • Experience working with FISMA compliant systems\n
  • Certified in AWS, GCP, and Azure technologies and experienced in best practice design and delivery of native cloud services\n
  • Experience with AWS CloudWatch services, Azure’s Application Insights, Monitor, Log Analytics, and Monitor Metrics, and GCP’s Cloud Operations suite\n, * Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP CLI, shell languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell), and formal programming languages (e.g., Python, Golang, Rust).\n
  • Experience with containers (Docker, ECS, EKS, AKS, ACI/ACA), serverless (Lambda), and Virtual Machine (VMware/Hyper-V, KVM) architectures.\n
  • Experience bootstrapping and automating the build of complete environments.\n
  • Efficient communication, zero handoff mentality, accountability and integrity as core.\n
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.\n
  • Ability to manage conflict effectively.\n
  • Ability to adapt and be productive in a fast-paced dynamic environment.\n
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills supporting multiple stakeholders and business operations.\n
  • Self-starter, self-managed, and a team player.\n
  • US Citizenship is required.\n, * Proven ability to work with challenging customers.\n
  • Agile-based knowledge and skill, including experience with Scrum Ceremonies and work management tools (e.g., (JIRA, Confluence).\n
  • Security Skills-Knowledge of information assurance compliance and information security basics within CMS.\n, BS degree and 12 - 15 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 10 - 13 years of prior relevant experience. May possess a Doctorate in technical domain.\n
