Job description

ProviNET Solutions is looking for a Network Engineer to join our Professional Services Engineering team.

This is an opportunity for an experienced network professional who enjoys solving problems, working with different technologies, and supporting multiple client environments rather than maintaining the same network day after day.

As a Network Engineer, you will design, implement, troubleshoot, and support network infrastructure for SMB clients in a managed services environment. You’ll work across a variety of environments and technologies, including firewalls, switching, routing, wireless, VPN, SD-WAN, secure remote access, and network monitoring.

You’ll balance service tickets, escalations, project work, proactive maintenance, client communication, and documentation. One day may involve troubleshooting a VPN issue, while the next could involve deploying a firewall, redesigning a VLAN structure, assisting with a network assessment, or participating in a client infrastructure project.

If you enjoy variety, technical problem-solving, and being the person who can figure out what’s actually happening on a network, this role may be a great fit., * Support multiple client network environments through service tickets, escalations, maintenance, and project work

  • Design, deploy, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure, including:
  • Firewalls
  • Routers
  • Switches
  • Wireless access points
  • VPN solutions
  • Related network services
  • Configure and troubleshoot Layer 2 technologies, including VLANs, trunking, switching, spanning tree, and network segmentation
  • Configure and troubleshoot Layer 3 technologies, including routing, NAT, subnetting, inter-VLAN routing, and static/dynamic routing
  • Deploy and manage firewall platforms and security policies, including access rules, NAT, VPNs, and secure remote access
  • Support secure access and edge networking technologies such as SD-WAN, ZTNA, SASE, and SSE
  • Support enterprise wireless environments, including access points, cloud/controller-managed platforms, SSIDs, authentication, roaming, coverage, and performance
  • Troubleshoot complex issues involving LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, and cloud-connected environments
  • Participate in network assessments, client onboarding, standardization initiatives, lifecycle planning, and remediation projects
  • Use network monitoring and alerting tools to identify, investigate, document, and resolve issues
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, IP schemes, firewall rules, VPN information, and client environment records
  • Collaborate with Service Desk, Client Care, Engineering, and Solutions Architecture teams
  • Participate in technical assessments, pre-sales discussions, and project scoping when needed
  • Follow security best practices across client environments
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for escalated support
  • Travel to client locations, including occasional out-of-state travel, for project work as needed
  • Accurately track time and maintain service/project tickets in the company PSA
  • Perform other duties as assigned, * Take ownership of a network issue from initial investigation through resolution
  • Troubleshoot methodically rather than simply guessing at the problem
  • Communicate technical issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Manage multiple client priorities without losing track of details
  • Produce documentation that another engineer can actually use
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, and performance
  • Work effectively across both reactive service requests and planned projects
  • Know when to independently resolve an issue and when to escalate
  • Adapt quickly to different client environments, technologies, and business needs

Why This Role Is Different

This isn’t a “keep the lights on” corporate network administrator position.

As an MSP Network Engineer, you’ll work with multiple clients, different network architectures, and a wide range of technologies. You’ll have opportunities to troubleshoot, build, improve, standardize, and implement-not just monitor the same environment every day.

If you like variety, enjoy digging into difficult technical problems, and want a role where no two client environments are exactly alike, you’ll have plenty to keep you challenged.

Requirements

We’re looking for someone who has real-world MSP or IT consulting experience and is comfortable supporting multiple client environments simultaneously.

You should have:

  • 3+ years of network engineering or network administration experience, preferably in an SMB-focused MSP or IT consulting environment
  • Strong understanding of:
  • TCP/IP
  • IPv4 and subnetting
  • DNS and DHCP
  • VLANs and switching
  • Routing and NAT
  • VPN technologies
  • Firewall policies
  • Wireless networking
  • Hands-on experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting firewalls, switches, wireless platforms, and VPN solutions
  • Strong Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking fundamentals
  • Experience troubleshooting LAN/WAN connectivity, wireless performance, firewall access, VPN connectivity, DNS/DHCP, and network performance issues
  • Understanding of network security concepts, including ACLs, segmentation, IPsec, SSL/TLS, secure remote access, and zero-trust principles
  • Experience working in an SLA-driven environment with competing priorities
  • Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
  • Excellent client-facing communication skills
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills
  • The ability to work independently while knowing when to escalate an issue, * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent professional experience

Nice-to-Have Experience

We’d love to hear from you if you have experience with:

Networking & Security

  • SonicWall
  • Fortinet
  • Cisco
  • Meraki
  • Aruba
  • Ruckus
  • Ubiquiti
  • SD-WAN

  • Equivalent vendor certifications

Don’t have every certification listed above? That’s okay. We value hands-on experience, strong networking fundamentals, troubleshooting ability, and the willingness to learn.
