Job description
The IT Technician provides comprehensive technical support to municipal departments across multiple town offices and facilities, ensuring the reliable operation of computer systems, networks, audio-visual equipment, and enterprise applications. This position is responsible for installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows and macOS devices, mobile equipment, and Microsoft 365 applications. The IT Technician assists with network administration tasks such as switch configuration, Wi-Fi connectivity, DNS/DHCP troubleshooting, structured cabling, and network hardware deployment., In addition, the IT Technician provides audio-visual setup, testing, and live technical support for town meetings, public hearings, board and commission meetings, and community events. The position supports critical technology systems used by Police, Fire, and EMS departments to help maintain reliable day-to-day operations. Responsibilities include supporting municipal software platforms such as ArcGIS, ESRI, Accela, Granicus, and CivicPlus. The role also assists with website content updates and basic troubleshooting. The IT Technician documents and resolves service requests while maintaining accurate inventories of technology assets. The ideal candidate is customer service-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced municipal environment while delivering responsive and professional technical support.
Requirements
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Information Technology Support Analyst to join our team. In this role, you will be the frontline technical expert responsible for delivering exceptional IT support across our organization., The ideal candidate will have two to five years of IT support, helpdesk, or field technician experience with strong knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, macOS, mobile devices, and standard business applications. Candidates should have experience with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, and device management tools. Familiarity with ticketing systems, audiovisual technology, municipal software platforms, and Cisco Meraki or Aruba networking equipment is preferred.
The successful candidate will possess strong communication, organization, and customer service skills, with the ability to support users with varying levels of technical knowledge. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications such as A+, Network+, CCNA, or Microsoft certifications are preferred. Experience in a municipal or government environment is highly desirable.
