Job description
The Lead Full Stack Developer will provide hands-on technical leadership for the design, development, testing, deployment, maintenance, and enhancement of assigned software applications and components. This role is responsible for guiding the full software development lifecycle within a SAFe Agile framework while ensuring high-quality delivery, scalable architecture, secure coding practices, and alignment with enterprise standards.
The Lead Full Stack Developer will mentor developers, conduct code reviews, support architecture and modernization efforts, and drive engineering best practices across the team. The role will also support the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and practices to improve developer productivity, code quality, documentation, testing, and delivery efficiency.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Serve as the technical lead for an Agile team composed of developers, business analysts, and automation test engineers.
- Provide hands-on full stack development across the application lifecycle, including design, development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement.
- Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools, prompt templates, and software engineering practices to improve productivity, code quality, testing, documentation, and delivery efficiency.
- Lead application design with a focus on performance, scalability, flexibility, security, maintainability, and alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain APIs, microservices, user interfaces, and backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and related technologies.
- Promote continuous integration, automated testing, and frequent release practices to support Agile delivery.
- Conduct code peer reviews and ensure adherence to Java coding standards, secure coding practices, and development best practices.
- Work closely with Business Analysts to refine user stories, clarify technical requirements, and support well-defined acceptance criteria.
- Support backlog refinement to ensure user stories and defects are ready for sprint planning and aligned with the team’s Definition of Ready and Definition of Done.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and Enterprise Architects to ensure team solutions align with the broader architectural roadmap and technical strategy.
- Participate in retrospectives, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities to address technical issues and improve delivery outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and typically 10-15 years of related software development experience.
- Strong proficiency in Java, JEE, Spring, Spring Boot, and related enterprise application development technologies.
- Proven experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Strong proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular, Bootstrap, jQuery, DataTables, or similar front-end frameworks and libraries.
- Experience with JPA, Hibernate ORM, relational database design, and SQL.
- Experience integrating U.S. Web Design System, or USWDS, compliant components into Angular-based applications, including use of component libraries or Storybook.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, GitHub Copilot Chat, or similar tools to support code generation, code completion, refactoring, documentation, and unit test generation.
- Experience with prompt engineering techniques, prompt templates, and effective use of AI tools within the software development lifecycle.
- Ability to evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated code to ensure correctness, maintainability, security, and alignment with coding standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Availability during core business hours of 9:00 AM-5:00 PM Eastern Time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance., * Experience supporting U.S. federal government contracts or federal technology programs.
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal.io, Camunda, or similar platforms.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and code quality tools.
- Experience with agentic AI development concepts, including AI agents, tool use, task planning, autonomous or semi-autonomous workflows, and human-in-the-loop engineering processes., Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Benefits & conditions
The proposed salary range for this role is $150,000 to $165,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
