Job description

  • Design, develop, and deliver Android features for millions of users.
  • Own and drive technical and product initiatives from concept through production support.
  • Build modern Android UI using Jetpack Compose and contribute to migration from XML-based UI.
  • Collaborate closely with Backend, iOS, QA, Product, and Design teams.
  • Work with Protobuf/gRPC-based APIs and own the client-side implementation.
  • Develop and maintain automated test coverage using JUnit, Espresso, and visual regression testing.
  • Ensure application quality through thorough end-to-end testing across supported devices.
  • Run A/B tests, evaluate results, and optimise user experience.
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor team members.
  • Contribute to incident management, root cause analysis, and post-mortem activities.
  • Build and enhance monetisation features including subscription and credit-based systems.
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate development, experimentation, and delivery.

Requirements

  • Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin and strong Android SDK fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with Jetpack Compose and interest in developing new features using Compose.
  • Proven experience building, scaling, and maintaining consumer-facing Android applications.
  • Experience working in large, modular Android codebases.
  • Strong knowledge of RxJava or equivalent reactive programming frameworks.
  • Strong testing mindset with experience in:
  • JUnit
  • Espresso
  • Unit Testing
  • Screenshot/UI Testing
  • Product-focused development approach with experience in experimentation, analytics, and iteration.
  • Strong expertise in Android performance profiling and optimisation.
  • Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and design patterns.
  • Comfortable leveraging AI-powered development tools such as Claude Code.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience working with monetisation, subscriptions, credits systems, and in-app purchase flows.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals including algorithms, data structures, concurrency, and multithreading.

Good to Have

  • Computer Science or related technical degree.
  • CI/CD experience (TeamCity or similar).
  • Experience with Appyx, RIBs, MVICore, or similar architectures.
  • Kotlin Coroutines and Flow.
  • gRPC, Protobuf, or schema-driven API tools.
  • Socket-based networking and binary protocols.
  • Gradle build tooling at scale.
  • Experience managing multiple app flavours from a single codebase.
  • A/B testing frameworks and feature flagging.
  • Analytics, remote monitoring, and performance metrics.
