Job description

As a senior individual contributor, you’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, leading complex technical initiatives and contributing to system design and architecture. You’ll be responsible for building secure, reliable, and scalable applications in a healthcare-regulated environment. You’ll partner closely with Product Management, Data Engineering, Clinical, and Operations teams to translate business needs into effective technical solutions. While this is not a people management role, you’ll provide technical guidance, mentor other engineers, and help elevate engineering best practices across the team., Technical Design & Architecture

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and technical standards across product platforms
  • Lead technical discovery and solution design for complex features and integrations
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term platform sustainability
  • Ensure adherence to healthcare security, privacy, and compliance requirements

Software Development & Delivery

  • Own end-to-end development of key product features, from deign through deployment and support
  • Write high-quality, production-ready code and lead code reviews
  • Improve engineering velocity through tooling, testing frameworks, and automation
  • Identify and resolve performance, reliability, and scalability bottlenecks
  • Participate in incident response and production support as needed

Platform, Data & Integration Development

  • Build and maintain APIs, integrations, and data pipelines that support Clarest’s core products
  • Work with Data Engineering teams to ensure reliable data ingestion, transformation, and interoperability
  • Implement integrations with healthcare systems, external partners, and third-party vendors
  • Contribute to improvements in data quality, mapping, and observability

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Product Managers to refine requirements and estimate effort
  • Collaborate with Clinical, Operations, and Customer teams to ensure solutions meet real-world workflows
  • Communicate technical tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations clearly to stakeholders
  • Support customer implementations and scalability efforts when needed

Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers
  • Promote best practices in system design, testing, CI/CD, and documentation
  • Help shape engineering culture focused on quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • Influence roadmap discussions with technical insights and feasibility assessments

Must adhere to Clarest’s Code of Conduct, follow Clarest Compliance policies and procedures, and report any suspected violations of any federal or state laws to either their direct supervisor, Human Resources or the Compliance Officer

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5-7 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience building and operating production-grade SaaS or platform systems
  • Experience working in cloud-native environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Experience with APIs, distributed systems, and modern backend frameworks
  • Healthcare or regulated-industry experience preferred but not required

  • Strong system design and architectural reasoning skills
  • Ability to independently lead complex technical initiatives
  • Deep understanding of modern software development practices (CI/CD, automated testing, observability)
  • Strong debugging and performance optimization skills
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work cross-functionally
  • High ownership and accountability
