Job description
The Technical Support and Training Specialist will be responsible for providing customer technical support for TDL products developed at NIWC Pacific. They will play a supporting role in achieving the organizations goals by supporting software testing, training and installation. This position will directly impact the US Navy C4I capabilities through development of advanced TDL products., Works mostly independently to:
Provide customer technical support for Tactical Data Link (TDL) products, such as Test Tools, Monitoring and Management Tools, and Gateways.
Perform installation and software familiarization training at customer sites world-wide.
Performs software and/or hardware installation and checkout, assist with the development of installation, and checkout test plans and procedures.
Assist with developing training materials and deliver customer training on contracted products.
Analyze customer reported trouble reports (TR) for contracted systems. Perform testing at assigned labs to recreate customer issues.
Support software testing of contracted products. Performs test execution in assigned labs, generate test status reports and submit Trouble Reports (TR) for software and/or hardware defects.
Participate in project status meetings in support of contracted projects.
Participate in the technical review process of documentation, including Software User Manuals, Software Version Descriptions, and Quick Reference Guides.
Requirements
TDL Systems, radios, and test equipment; Command and Control Processer (C2P), Link Monitoring and Management Tool (LMMT), Data Link Gateway (DLGW), Link Host Simulator (LHS), SIMPLE TADIL Generator (STG), Air Defense Systems Integrator (ADSI) and Joint Range Extension (JRE) Gateway.
TDL protocols, message standards, network design, and interfaces
Computer network protocols and interfaces including TCP/IP and Ethernet
Computer-based business tools (including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point).
EDUCATION
HS Diploma or GED required
CompTIA Security + Certification Preferred, Ability to deliver equipment to field locations
May be expected to lift up to 25 lbs
25% Travel land and air travel expected CONUS and OCONUS.
Boarding a shipboard vessel required
Frequent use of keyboard and typing, Must have ability to work within company and customer schedule requirements which may vary depending on criticality and necessity of a given task.
The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements, Candidates must have an active clearance OR the ability to obtain a US Government security clearance and will be subject to a US security background investigation (i.e. favorable background investigation / credit score). Additional eligibility requirements for access to various levels of classified information may also be required. An active security clearance is highly desirable.
