Job description

HDR Engineering is seeking a national Substation Digital Delivery Lead to advance and support digital delivery initiatives across the Power Delivery Substation Business Class. This position will report to corresponding Area Operations Leadership and have a dotted-line relationship to the national Substation Business Class Lead.

The Substation Digital Delivery Lead will work closely with the Resources Business Group Digital Delivery Regional Leads, project teams, technical practitioners and business leadership to drive implementation, adoption and continuous improvement of digital delivery solutions. This role provides technical leadership for BIM strategy, model management, digital workflows, content development, standards implementation and emerging technologies that support efficient project execution and exceptional client service. The position serves as a recognized subject matter expert and trusted advisor who helps develop digital talent, improve project delivery performance and support HDR’s long-term digital vision within the Substation Business Class.

In the role of Substation Digital Delivery Lead, we’ll count on you to:

  • Serve as Model Manager on large and/or complex substation projects
  • Lead implementation and adoption of digital delivery workflows, standards and best practices throughout the Substation Business Class
  • Perform non-routine and complex design assignments requiring application of advanced BIM and digital delivery techniques
  • Develop design and digital delivery solutions with minimal supervision from project and discipline leadership
  • Implement technology-based processes, automation tools and innovative workflows that improve quality, efficiency and consistency
  • Direct efforts of and mentor less-experienced BIM technicians and digital delivery professionals
  • Support development and management of digital content, standards, training programs and technology initiatives in coordination with the RBG Digital Design and Delivery Lead
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary model development and exchange of digital information between teams and software platforms
  • Collaborate with digital delivery leaders across business groups and geographic regions to promote consistency and knowledge sharing
  • Facilitate regular training, workshops and communities of practice for substation design professionals to share lessons learned, project experiences and emerging technologies
  • Support development of best practices, technical policies and procedures, professional development programs, technical presentations and digital innovation initiatives
  • Maintain active project involvement and support project delivery performance while meeting utilization expectations established for the role
  • Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

  • Active participant in ongoing technical working groups, both internally and externally
  • Proficiency in Revit for model authoring, coordination and project delivery
  • Familiarity with Autodesk Add-In P4A and Inventor
  • Familiarity with Bentley applications, Autodesk Construction Cloud/BIM 360, and digital delivery workflows supporting substation projects
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of industry standards and practices in the areas of CADD, BIM, digital delivery, engineering documentation and model-based project delivery
  • Experience supporting substation, transmission and distribution, or other power delivery projects
  • Experience developing digital content, standards, automation solutions and model management workflows, * Technical degree or a combination of education and relevant experience
  • A minimum of 5 years digital design (BIM element authoring) and 5 years digital delivery (model management) experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of all discipline relations and operations of building systems
  • Advanced skillset of 3D design software and document management infrastructure
  • Advanced skillset of 3D Coordination tools
  • Advanced skillset of Microsoft Office products and communication tools
  • Familiar with industry standards and practices, along with discipline codes and specifications
  • Familiar with basic automation and programming applications for efficiencies
  • Familiar with 3D design software add-ins and supporting applications
  • Familiar with content creation and management concepts
  • Superior client service, communication, and presentation skills are essential
  • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to effectively serve as a first line of technical support
  • Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and leadership traits are essential
  • Must have strong organizational skills to establish priorities between technical support requests and project work
  • Must be enthusiastic, energetic, and an excellent work ethic, If you are required to drive for us, we require a valid driver’s license and compliance with our vehicle policy.
