Job description

The Senior SAP EWM Functional Specialist - Manufacturing Integration is accountable for driving operational excellence through hands-on support, configuration, and optimization of SAP S/4HANA, with primary responsibility for Extended Warehouse Management (EWM) and its integration with manufacturing, including PP/PP-PI processes.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role. The successful candidate must be able to independently configure, troubleshoot, test, and support SAP EWM without relying on another senior functional resource. This is not a people-management, program-management, or solution-architecture position.

Deep EWM functional and configuration expertise is the primary requirement. Strong PP/PP-PI integration knowledge is required, while hands-on PP/PP-PI configuration experience will be considered a significant advantage.

This individual will lead day-to-day EWM execution, troubleshoot integration issues, implement practical improvements, and help evolve Alcami’s manufacturing and warehouse processes into a scalable, reliable operating model. On-Site Expectations 100% on-site position

  • 1st Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the hands-on EWM functional SME and individual contributor in a live S/4HANA RISE environment, personally performing configuration, troubleshooting, testing, and production support for warehouse execution and manufacturing integration.
  • Configure, support, and optimize SAP EWM processes including inbound/outbound, staging, goods issue/receipt, batch handling, replenishment, physical inventory, warehouse structure, storage types, warehouse process types, putaway and stock-removal strategies, warehouse tasks/orders, and production supply processes.
  • Support end-to-end manufacturing integration with SAP PP/PP-PI, including process-order staging, component consumption, goods issue, finished-goods receipt, warehouse-to-production movements, production supply areas, and resolution of EWM/PP inventory and staging inconsistencies.
  • Work directly with warehouse supervisors, production teams, quality, and supply chain to resolve day-to-day operational issues and implement practical system improvements.
  • Personally troubleshoot and resolve EWM and PP/PP-PI integration issues, including stock inconsistencies, staging failures, batch problems, goods-movement errors, warehouse-task failures, and production-execution issues.
  • Gather requirements, personally perform functional configuration changes, and deliver enhancements focused on improving warehouse execution, inventory accuracy, and production readiness.
  • Own EWM-related incidents and enhancements from intake through resolution, including root cause analysis, hands-on system diagnosis, configuration, testing, and documentation.
  • Partner with ABAP and integration resources to define functional specifications for reports, interfaces, and Fiori apps tied to warehouse and manufacturing execution.
  • Personally execute and support unit testing, integration testing, and UAT, and actively drive defects through resolution.
  • Create and maintain functional documentation, SOPs, and provide training to business users.
  • Ensure processes meet cGMP/GxP requirements and support validation activities as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement by reducing manual workarounds, strengthening process discipline, and improving system adoption across warehouse and manufacturing operations.
  • Support ongoing SAP stabilization efforts and future warehouse optimization initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field. SAP EWM certification strongly preferred (or equivalent hands-on EWM implementation experience).

  • 7+ years of hands-on SAP functional experience, including at least 5 years directly configuring and supporting SAP WM/EWM and at least 3 years working with S/4HANA EWM environments.
  • Practical experience supporting warehouse execution tied to manufacturing, including staging, goods issue/receipt, batch handling, replenishment, and physical inventory.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting SAP go-lives and post-go-live stabilization, preferably within RISE with SAP environments.
  • Deep hands-on SAP EWM configuration expertise with demonstrated experience integrating EWM with PP/PP-PI manufacturing processes, including production staging, component consumption, goods issue, finished-goods receipt, batch handling, and warehouse-to-production material movements.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environments required; pharmaceutical, biotech, CDMO, or GxP manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of SAP integration tools, Fiori apps, and interfaces (IDoc/BAPI).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot operational issues directly in SAP and drive issues through resolution.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of warehouse execution and manufacturing integration within SAP, including PTM process flows, shop-floor material movement, and inventory control.
  • Ability to translate operational needs into practical SAP EWM solutions that improve execution, data quality, and compliance.
  • Hands-on SAP PP/PP-PI configuration experience is strongly preferred, particularly in production/process orders, production versions, BOMs/routings or recipes, work centers/resources, MRP, scheduling, confirmations, component consumption, and backflush processes.
  • Proficiency in documentation, process mapping, SOP development, and end-user training.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across Manufacturing, Warehouse Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and IT.
  • High attention to detail, adaptability, and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a results-oriented approach.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and reporting skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid business acumen with the ability to balance system design with operational realities.
  • High level of personal and professional integrity with a strong work ethic.

Travel Expectations

  • Up to 20% travel required.
