Firewall Infrastructure Engineer

We are seeking a Firewall Infrastructure Engineer to join an ongoing Network Service Request Fulfillment team supporting a fast-paced, enterprise environment. This role will provide day-to-day firewall infrastructure support, service request fulfillment, and engineering assistance while helping address team capacity gaps., * Design, engineer, implement, and support firewall infrastructure service requests.

• Create, modify, and delete firewall rules, NAT rules, and object groups.
• Perform ongoing firewall configuration and operational support within an enterprise network environment.
• Analyze technical and business requirements and translate them into appropriate network security solutions.
• Support Fortinet/FortiGate firewall technologies and related network services.
• Work with internal stakeholders, architecture, engineering, product teams, business teams, and external providers.
• Manage multiple service requests, engagements, and workstreams while meeting short turnaround times.
• Troubleshoot firewall and network-related issues and support timely resolution of escalations.
• Follow established standards, templates, processes, and infrastructure service management practices.
• Participate effectively in a fast-paced 24/7 operational environment.
• Demonstrate ownership, accountability, organization, and attention to detail.
• Collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams to deliver network infrastructure solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong, recent hands-on Fortinet/FortiGate experience, extensive firewall rule management experience, and the ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment with quick turnaround times. This individual must be a self-starter, technically strong, reliable, and comfortable collaborating across multiple teams., * 5+ years of networking experience preferred.

• Recent and extensive hands-on Fortinet/FortiGate experience.
• Strong experience creating and managing firewall rule sets.
• Hands-on experience adding, modifying, and deleting:
• Firewall rules
• NAT rules
• Object groups
• Strong understanding of network technologies and protocols.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to independently manage responsibilities while contributing effectively as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ownership, initiative, and reliability.
• Strong communication skills with experience collaborating across technical and business teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with quick turnaround requirements.
• Understanding of IT service management processes and enterprise operational environments.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Enterprise-level or Bank of America experience.
• Check Point firewall experience.
• Fortinet certifications, including NSE 1-8 or equivalent.
• Check Point certifications such as CCTA, CCTE, CCSA, or CCSE.
• Cisco certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE.
• Scripting experience with Python, Ansible, or PowerShell.
• Automation experience using Expect, RANCID, REST, or SOAP.
• Service request fulfillment experience.
• Experience working in Agile environments.
• Financial services, banking, or investment banking experience.
• Broader network infrastructure experience across routing, switching, WAN, LAN, MAN, proxy/threat prevention, DDI, load balancing, AAA, optical networking, or related technologies.
• Experience with Splunk or similar monitoring/observability tools.
