Job description

  • Collaborate with fellow engineers, the product team, and stakeholders to build high-quality tools that meet real business objectives
  • Develop and maintain full-stack features across our modern web applications, from backend APIs to responsive, intuitive frontend user interfaces
  • Create geospatial data visualizations and map-based interfaces leveraging Mapbox GL JS and deck.gl
  • Design and consume event-driven services using Kafka for real-time data streaming and system integration
  • Build and operate cloud-native infrastructure - AWS services (SQS, SNS, S3, MSK), Docker containers, Kubernetes/ArgoCD, and background job workers
  • Ship changes through GitLab CI/CD and evolve database schemas through versioned migrations (Flyway)
  • Instrument what you build with logging, metrics, and alerting, so problems surface before customers find them

Requirements

We are looking for someone with exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, who embraces changes while maintaining strong attention to detail. An interested and proactive person, who’s constantly learning and improving their skills., * 4-6 years of professional software development experience, with a proven track record of shipping robust, production-grade applications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent demonstrated experience)
  • Hands-on experience with agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex CLI, or similar), and the judgment to review, test, and push back on what they produce
  • Strong command of at least one backend language (Python preferred) and working fluency with SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Working knowledge of modern web-based frontend development - JavaScript/TypeScript and React or an equivalent framework
  • Excellent written and verbal communication - you can walk another engineer through a tradeoff and explain the same decision to someone outside the team
  • Self-motivated, comfortable working independently, and equally comfortable giving and receiving direction
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and adapting to changing priorities

It’s a plus:

  • FastAPI, Flask, Django, or similar Python web frameworks
  • PostgreSQL/PostGIS and geospatial query optimization
  • Next.js and modern React/TypeScript tooling
  • Web mapping and visualization libraries (Mapbox GL JS, deck.gl, Leaflet)
  • Event streaming platforms (Kafka preferred) or other message broker systems
  • Cloud platforms (AWS preferred - S3, SQS, SNS, MSK), containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes)
  • CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
  • Infrastructure as code (Terraform) or GitOps workflows
  • Observability tools and practices - logging, metrics, alerting
  • Geospatial data processing, remote sensing, or the energy sector
  • GIS tools and libraries (GDAL, PDAL, QGIS, GeoPandas, Fiona, etc.)
